Definitely a fun daily driver that handles really well on coils, but not quick enough to be getting such poor gas mileage. I just sold my 03 manual a few weeks ago, it's been a super reliable ride!

The IS300 is hands down one of the best cars I have bought. It's a four door sports car. The facts its RWD put it ahead of FWD cars. I have beat a stock wrx in my 5 speed. 1jz 2jz altezza parts. Is300 parts pick your choice. Great plaftorm. Drift it. Track it. Drag it whatever you want this car can be. One of the most underrated jdm platforms and underrated in general. Can be a smooth daily or weapon. Only downsides is MPG In city sucks and back seats doesn't go down and lexus parts are expensive

They're great cars, but everyone undermines how expensive it is to go turbo and manual on them. Even the cheapest manual options are like 2k just in parts. Turboing the car changes everything about it. It drives nothing like a lexus now. My channel is about my turbo IS300.

I bought this car because I wanted a nicer Toyota than an early 2000s Corolla. I needed a small car that would fit in smaller spaces, I test drove one of these and discovered it was fast than I expected. I'm lazy, so I drive auto, I want the car to do all the way. But I don't know, I think you're expecting a post 2013 IS350 or something or at least a 2012 Civic. If you balance it out, it's not bad for what it is, it's reliable, has more power than a new 86, it's more comfortable than a lancer, faster than any standard car and it's rear wheel drive (unlike every Honda that isn't an s2000). It's not an EVO, Civic Type R, WRX STI, GTR, (can be a supra with mods) but for city people that don't drive that often, want a cheap small car with a bit of grunt that isn't going to die right after you buy it (like every German car over 10 years old) it's pretty good!
@jasonlazo5016
@jasonlazo5016 4 жыл бұрын
I agree, overall its not a bad car. You do put up a good point that its probably quicker than an frs. And it is also lighter than a mk4 supra even with 4 doors. But as it stands now, its still a slow car to me

You probably run in limp mode too. When check engine line is on and Trac is flashing the ECU falls into limp mode so you do not have full power and usually it use more fuel too. the first two 02 sensor (closest to engine head) are the ones that reads fuel and air so the ECU fine tune the injection and combustion cycle. the 02 after the Cats to read if the cats still do their job. Those two sensor will NOT make the ECU goes into limp mode, its for emissions reading only. It will only trigger the CEL to tell you that something wrong (Like me with my catless header and midpipe setup) I got a manual 5 speed and can get 650 km of a full tank, during our roadtrips, Using the scenic road and driving spirited by moments (can get tired of that 2j sound) add to that being stuck in traffic for 45 minutes.
@jasonlazo5016
@jasonlazo5016 4 жыл бұрын
That actually really good information thank you. My CEL is from Bank 2 Sensor 2, the light keeps coming back even after I replaced that sensor. I might have to check on Bank 2 Sensor 1? If it is dumping extra fuel it would explain why it is rather slow lol

I do agree with a decent chuck of what youre saying if you keep it stock. Just because it has the 2j makes it worth it for me, its no supra but it has good support for turbo engine management . Also worth mentioning its similar suspension to its jzx family, fanbois like that one. Complaining about handling....only sitting on coils 🤦🏾‍♂️ How about replacing every single almost 20 year old rubber bushing under the car FIRST?

At that time I had poly bushing across the car, not anymore since I was too lazy to swap the diff bushings when I installed the manual diff

@@jasonlazo5016 Have you ever driven an a Accord or Camry or are you used to Mustangs and M3s? Compared to most used cars in it's price range, it's pretty fast. What are you actually comparing it to? Also, press the ECT PWR button, it takes off faster.

@@TVperson1 Comparing it to overall quick cars, Evos, Stis, mustangs, etc. I guess I haven't driven a proper v6 camry or accord

@@jasonlazo5016 Yeah ok, now I see why you'd say that. I'm used to Camrys, Accords, Odysseys, Yaris's, Mazda 6s, more basic sort of cars. Compared to those, it's a fast car, it's not fast compared to a WRX STI, but those are the same price as a Supra, the IS300 is closer to a 2006 accord euro or Acura TSX in price and class.
