When i went to join at Pa😂lace Baracks, they put me in the Signals. Did seven years, then PVRd as it was pants. Tried twice to transfer, but they wouldnt let me as i had a "trade". Their loss. Sorry to hear that mate. In the time we are living now, everyone has their own online login to an area were soldiers can check their payslips and see other parts of admin around their career. One of them being able to submit a transfer. They can search all jobs in the Army and see if they meet the requirements/qualifications of transfer. So cutting out the ability for anyone to “lose paperwork” etc

Yeah it’s important to take time and do the research to work out what you want. You will find it much easier committing to something difficult if you’re in it for the right reasons. I was proud to serve the county from Day one and 18 years in I’m still proud to serve the county and be British. No matter how society is and reacts, it’s important to stick to your morals. It’s more difficult to serve when society doesn’t appreciate you but when it’s more difficult it’s more rewarding. You’ll find a motivated community 💪🇬🇧

Thanks for watching, glad you like them mate. Yes roger that, it’s probably one of the major things that gos unseen “family life/relationships”. Im on it, just put it in my notes to the top of the list. I’ll created next. In short, it is such a different set up to what your civilian counterparts will have “family life”. When you step forward to serve they “your family” technically serve with you in a way. We are married 11 years this year and together about 13/14. So pretty much the just shy of the length of my career so far. It can be tough at times but still going strong. So very possible when both parties are committed. I’ll get something more detailed knocked up into a video. Like I said it’s in the top of my list now. I do have some pre-recorded fitness ones that just need editing but the family one will be the next for shooting 🎥

So I’d say get active. Get a hobby that involves you being active. That way you’re getting fitter and enjoying something. Outside of that, get in the gym and out running. Go for functional training and not “bodybuilding stuff”. CrossFit , Hyrox, decafit are a few fitness areas to look at and potentially get involved in, that will get you Army fit at the same time.

It’s good from a young age as you gain confidence, some quals and get fit once you reach a point get out and get a better job you stay in long enough and you’ll end up in a shit job civvie side don’t stay long term its not worth it.

I agree with all that, especially on the qualifications front. I know some lads from my unit who went on to work in the coms world for F1. Yes for the majority stepping forward to serve they should do as much as they can whilst positive and get out if it’s not for them anymore. I also do think there is a route for the long term people who just love service life, Late entry commissioning. So essentially completing the solider path and moving onto the officer ladder.

@Rangermedia
@Rangermedia 21 күн бұрын
Right now, go crack phys today. We need to make physical training a routine that’s done in some shape or form daily. Clearly don’t run a marathon the day before your assessment centre but generally train as normal then put in a rest day before the centre. That rest day still looks like out for a walk or mobility/flexibility work. Just always have it in your mind, what have I done today to positively impact my body.

No one is required to serve as a reservist. People who sign off are given the option with the careers officer to sign up to the reserves during that leaving process so that the transition is smooth. It’s not a compulsory route.

@JohnnyGat-lq5gn
@JohnnyGat-lq5gn 21 күн бұрын
The ranger regiment is specifically the army’s new baby. You would need to do basic training first and after 2 years you can specialise in a role. Your superior would review your notice and recommend you for the ranger regiment. To which you would have to pass several more aptitude and training tests.

I would love to join the British Military... but I weigh 140kg thanks to poor parenting and a horrid childhood. Bullied for 12+ years, over fed for 8 years, abused by some people (not relatives) for a few months. Now, I'm 20, but I got no idea how tf I'm supposed to get my life together at this point. I got no idea how to face the music of socialising with people, losing weight, etc. I've had a passion for our history for the last 4 years, and one of my friends joined the military at 17 (he's 23 now) and has resigned. But from his experience, the military just f*cked him around all the time.

Like I said at the start of the video, service is not for everyone. People will have varied experiences, as there are different units and roles throughout the Army with all different chains of command. Leadership is a funny thing, there is no specific set way. Some get it wrong and some get it right. Unfortunately it’s the ones at the bottom of the pyramid who are the ones mostly affected. Yes it can go wrong at times but in my opinion and experience it has gone right more than it’s gone wrong. So yes, listen to other people’s experiences but don’t set up your own goals around 1 persons negative experience. Regards to your performance currently, weight etc. Happy days, you’ve moved through the first step by acknowledging you have an issue and you need to sort it. It may seem like a simple step but that mental acknowledgment will now be your driving factor through your training regime. If you don’t already run, start a couch to 5km. Don’t go running stupid miles on a heavier frame, we will just open the door to injuries which will lead to set backs. A balance between gym work (resistance) and cardio is key to shedding weight. Highly recommend getting into functional training as it will set you up well for work in the Army, no matter what role you go for. If you have some money, invest it into your self. With a membership, I recommend a cross fit box. (Gym). There is a sense of community and instructors there to help you and most importantly scale exercises back, to suit your experience. The advance it as you get better. Your standard gym membership is also good but most of the machines arnt functional and your in there going it alone. So no one holding you to account and if you’re not sure how to train, it can be a nightmare. 20 is still young, so young. You don’t have to have life worked out by now! I turned 35 last year and I’m still working shit out lol

@@Rangermedia Thanks for the advise. I've taken some basic steps already like reducing the amount I eat by a lot. As a kid, my parents would feed me all the time as a way to just get rid of me and keep me distracted, so I was eating around 4,000 to 5,000 calories a day. Plus, the 12 years of bullying from school never helped. But I've reduced the amount I eat to around 1,000 - 1,500 calories per day, and I am even trying to go a few days by only eating dinners (I know to not starve myself, as that doesn't help). For exercise, it's going to be difficult for me as I've been inactive my entire life, and weighing in a 140kg I can't really move. I plan to begin going out on runs but I am incredibly self conscious about how I look in public. I know I wont have the feeling once I've lost the weight, it's just something that's there for now. And ye, what you said about gym machines not being functional is so true in my area. I already went to my local gym earlier, and almost every machine is broken, so people obviously swarm the weights. So I ended up just leaving. I thank you for taking the time to reply to me, as it does mentally help knowing someone can give advise on how to fix this mess of a life I've been given. I've already had it out with my parents for the over feeding, but they couldn't care less. So again, I thank you for your reply.
