So You Want to Learn Marisa... | Road to Master

Another first video in our road to master series, we have our new muscle mommy, Marisa! She's one of the most annoying characters to play against, so let's see what she's all about. The first video of each series will include a short guide/tutorial at the beginning. It won't be complete with optimal combos, but should be enough to get you and me started in ranked matches. Then, we'll see how we do in our placement matches and try to place as high as we can in ranked!
Street Fighter 6, the next game in the iconic series, will release in 2023! Take part in the Fighting Ground, which focuses on the classic fighting game experience with modes from previous games in the series. Two new modes will be available alongside: World Tour, an immersive single-player story experience, and Battle Hub, which will further expand the scope of player communication and engagement. Quick tip from a Marisa main: After you drive impact someone in the corner, you can do her quarter circle back punch special and it'll lead to a combo similar to what he showed at @5:38.

Yeah, it's basically the exact same thing, you just have to start w/ the QCB+HP instead of hitting the back+HP first. You treat the DI hit like your back+HP hit and then proceed as normal.

So this was random, I just picked Marisa as my main, got SF6 for Christmas, I liked this video and it cranked over from 1.9 to 2k thumbs up, never happened to me before, thought it was fun. Thanks for this video, been really excited to learn Marisa!

just a note, if you can react to a drive impact, counter it with your stance into charged HP, into back HP into combo, for way, way better damage scaling than if you would counter with your own drive impact and go charge back HP and HP . Up to 6686 damage. Also if you get a blocked drive impact in the corner, you can go back HP, EX Superman, into charged crouching HP, into driverush back HP, into whatever floats your boat super wise.

I also main Marisa (was debating Honda or JP too) and I got placed in Silver ... something. And I worked my way up with like a 13 win streak to Gold 4*. I was thinking maybe I could hit Diamond in this game, but if big Neph is placement matched there ... maybe I have more to learn before I get to that spot. Great video. Thanks for the tips!

Both ex jump punch and ex step kick leave them crumpled in the corner for you to either super after or go for the command grab

the EX scutum gives armor on low attacks as well, non-EX scutum only blocks her upper body. Edit: It's in her character guide in the game, can't find info on it online

Hey Nephew, first off, great stuff. Was wondering when you were going to do Marisa for she is my new favorite character and possibly my main. I couldn't help but realize that when you were covering her anti-airs, you didn't mention her quarter circle back light punch. It's invincible against jump attacks. You can also use the OD version to get a combo afterwards. Was wondering if you left those out for a reason? Anyways, always enjoy the content, and this is a cool series.

I’m trying my hardest to get into street fighter this is officially the first game i was confident enough in that it would help beginners out. But the concepts are just hard to me i guess… I even struggle just walking forward and backwards trying to keep a flow going. You make everything look so smooth. But even if i never get that good the videos of watching you kill it with every character is astonishing. What is your main if you have one based on all these videos I can’t tell you come off as diverse in everyone.

Take it from someone who felt the exact same way. Drill the Combo Trials. Again. Again. Again. I'll even have a You Tube video on the labtop and just watch outta the corner of my eye. If you think of it as a musical instrument. You have to practice it. Over and Over and Over. At least with Marisa its fun because you're simply BASHING people. Block. If you can learn to block, then Medium Punch - Medium Punch - QCF Punch (Gladius) Throw in some Over Drives. That's been enough for me to pound some people. You'll get there. Just give yourself at least 4 hours in Training. You have to get a sense of her tempo. She loves ya. Ya gotta lover her back. Spend some time with her. You got this.

@@CallMeSwiper This is really late and maybe you are a God by now, but this is my first time ever putting effort into a fighting game. Usually I just mess around with mid level bots and never touch online. It is humbling! I feel like I'm working my ass off just to be bronze 3. I can't imagine all the work required to continue my climb. We'll get there! Just takes a lot of time a REALLY paying attention to what you are doing. I remember watching youtube videos while playing Rocket League and I played at a high champ level. In SF, no sir! All focus is on the game.

I really hate the timing for her Back heavy Punch into specials combo, i cant get it down but it seems so essential advise appreciated

It does do good damage, but if it's that hard for you, you can usually use medium target combo in place of charged back HP->back HP, and you can use crouching medium punch in place of it in drive rush juggles. Yeah, it does a bit less damage, but it's a lot easier of an input.

Try Ryu or Luke, both have good fundamentals and will make your awareness in matches better and are relatively beginner friendly. Marisa is always a fun alternative tho

For anyone reading this, I’ve been playing fighting games for the better part of 17 years and have always used controller. I want to get an arcade stick for them now, but I’m not sure what to get. Does anyone have any recommendations that aren’t gonna cost me an arm and a leg and still get the job done?

Best thing for guaranteed damage after countering drive impact do her grab out of counter it punish counter for a fuck ton of damage. Also you can fully charge a level 1 into ex superman punch in the corner.

Honestly I personally find her pretty hard ! Sure you can armor trough everyhing but with all those charged moves I can't seem to understand at which timing I'm supposed to follow-up, and she has a ton of normals, I never know when to use them ! But yes, she indeed is pretty straight forward, but I find Shotos to be easier

Def not easiest. Neutral is kinda difficult/weird at times. No dp to ignore pressure. Anti-airs are iffy. Can't drive rush on many poke buttons like others can. Walks as fast as a snail. Ken, Luke, Juri, and JP are certainly easier imo. There's probably others as well.

Easy in execution maybe. Easy to play? That's another story. She's completely missing a lot of tools other characters get, she doesn't have an obvious neutral game, she's slow and most of her "combos" have gaps which allow your opponent to mash out or block mid-string. I'd say as usual Ryu and ken are the easiest characters to play.
