i know right im so god damn angry about them vaulting story, Gw2 updated a ton of regions into completely new areas but you can still timewalk into the story for those regions, they do this really cool like sepia effect on the screen like youve travelled through time. why cant we do some fucking paracausal bullshit and relive old moments.

Honestly I'd say the best thing to do is just copy a build for whatever exotic armor piece you might have. That will give you an idea of how things synergize, and once you get a feel for it you can start experimenting on your own. At least, that's what worked for me when I started playing.

Yeah they need to always update it. I am looking forward to see new aspects and even fragments for light subclasses and also prismatic in the future. They need to add a handelinhdg stat for abilities cause they are sluggish sometimes (could be tied to mobility) They also need update their engine and I think D2 will be a very nice game and maybe we can see D3

My biggest advice is find a clan that is willing to help and guide new players and make friends in game. But don’t be afraid to hop around until you find the right group of people. There’s a lot of jerks out there but there’s also a lot of great people who love helping new players.

This is gold. I played during forsaken for a year and a half, but never did end game content (even in d1). Come back in november, i found a clan that helped me A LOT. Never did a raid or a dungeon or a gm, now i know a lot of things. To all the veteran out there: be kind and spend time explaining even the obvious things to blueberries, and they will be as good as you are.

I actually think grinding public events is a great way to get started, once you get to that point. You'll be farming tons of glimmer to unlock those subclasses, you can familiarize yourself with the different planets and enemy factions, you get to take your gear out for a spin and start thinking about what kind of playstyle you like, you passively earn new weapons and armor (maybe even get some exotics to drop), and you get to meet new players, all in a super easy and low stakes environment. I think it's like the perfect thing to do as a new player if you just have no idea what to do.

For new players you’ll also hear a lot of jargon from the community so here’s some of the common ones: Blueberry- player not in your fireteam or a random player. Also commonly derogatory for new or bad player Wipe- everyone commit suicide to restart the encounter Wipe for damage- wiping the team specifically to see the amount of damage each player has done. Often said as a joke right before a boss is killed Gm- grandmaster. The hardest difficulty of the nightfall activity New light- new player Flawless- completing an activity without dying God roll- the best roll of an item. Typically used to refer to weapons with the best possible perks it can have Bow swap- a pvp strategy of using a bow to deal an initial burst of damage then quickly switching to a secondary weapon to quickly clean up the kill Nova- nova bomb super Well- well of radiance super Goldie- golden gun super T-crash- thundercrash super Bubble- ward of dawn super Year 1- when referring specifically to destiny 2 that’s the period of time consisting of its vanilla launch and first 2 dlc(curse of Osiris and warmind) Year 2,3,4…- referring to each annual dlc after year 1(forsaken, beyond light, witch queen, lightfall) Stacy- the warlock stasis ability to make a freezing turret. “My son”/“my children”- any automated construct made by the warlock class(void soul, arc soul, threadlings, Stacy) _____ Buddy- another name for automated construct: void buddy= void soul. Arc buddy= arc soul Div bitch- the designated support player for dps phases. Named after the weapon divinity which started the trend Add- additional enemies. I've got a few tips: The number one thing I can suggest, as someone who has experienced burnout, is that it's fine not to play. Take breaks, take your time, and enjoy the game. Another tip I have is to use what you like. In a lot of cases, the difference between different weapons or even whole builds are minor when you look at the actual results. But it's all about what YOU want to use. I have spent hours just buildcrafting and testing just to see what works and what I like. It is one of the most fun parts of the game. Unless your using a glaive. My next tip would be to learn from other players. If you see a fellow guardian, whether they be a content creator or random, you met on a strike, and they are using a build.or gun you think is cool, by all means try it out. There is nothing wrong with copying other players, as long as you are having fun. Last tip, play with others. Most of the endgame content in this game can't be done solo. Most of the content in the game overall is easier and more fun when done with others. So whether it be through LFG discord servers or your own friends, enjoy the game with others. Real last tip: don't use glaives

For new players looking to raid: watch a walkthrough video on the raid you want to do before trying to join any groups. You don’t need to know everything right away but it really helps to have at least some idea of encounter mechanics. (Edit) Just make sure you're honest with the group if you aren't understanding something, don't pretend that you know what you're doing if you don't.

@@subzero308 Keep in mind this advice is directed at new players, and is mainly in the interest of not wasting 5 other people's time with "missed the mechanic" wipes (especially on old raids) and the replacement finding periods when people get fed up and leave, as well as not wasting your own time as a solo newbie posting a "LF5M completely blind run, need teacher" in raid LFGs to find a group in the first place. Also, I fail to understand how learning the gist of encounter mechanics before trying them for the first time "defeats the purpose of raiding". IMHO, the primary purpose of raiding has always been the rewards you get for doing so, and later on, completing the triumphs/seals. Sure the ideal experience for some could be for the whole team to go into it blind and figure it out together, but outside of day 1's, you're unlikely to even be able to form such a team in the first place. But to say that's the purpose of raiding also means to say that there's no reason to do any raiding after a day 1 clear, which is blatantly untrue. TL;DR: the main reason people do raids is for the loot and titles, and you can go in blind all you want, but be prepared to waste a lot of your own and other people's time in the process

When I say pay to play I mean unplayable without whaling and HEAVY paywalls to unlock content in total exceeding 100 USD. Otherwise I’d rather play a single player for $60 or smth

As a player who has never taken a break since Taken King, I like these videos. I have friends that have started coming back to the game, and I try to help them out and often find I have no idea where to tell them to start. Soooo much has changed, and come and gone, and being here for all of it… most of the time Im just as confused as they are when they are basically at this point starting fresh.

As someone who just started about a MONTH AGO Don’t WORRY about crafting weapons or red borders, find some weapons you are comfortable with and focus on getting good Armor Set! Weapons always change Meta, but your Armor if you have a good enough one you can keep for ever

This is a really solid video Cross, I'm saving it to show any new lights I find. Do you think you could do anther one on how to navigate the content? I see a lot of people get confused with all the seasonal and DLC missions the game likes to yank you in to. Also, the one piece of advice I have to add is, join a good clan. Playing with other active people makes it a completely different game.

Guide needs a part 2 that breaks the basics down even more. I've had multiple people try the game and can't find where quests are, major hubs, and you legitimately can't do much without the DLCs. Yes, the game hands out 1810 now, but with how hands off the new light experience is, people don't know what to do afterwards, where to look for things, where to farm. This helps for sure, but needs more depth. New players are usually so overwhelmed by pointless quests or the sheer amount of things to catch up on, they just go through the campaigns or do bounties in my experience.

2 things I would definitely recommend new players to do is the 1st seasonal mission of Season of the Wish (the current season) as this gives you the current seasonal artifact which gives major bonuses to your build (this season giving extra solar, strand, and stasis bonuses). I would also recommend doing Dares of Eternity as it's a great starting place to learn the combat of the game getting you used to the various enemy factions along with aspects of the game like champions, enemy control and boss fights.

I still consider myself a new light since I started the game since Witch Queen, mind you I got overwhelmed and burned out in a matter of weeks then took a hiatus for a year, I came back after lightfall and slowly immerse myself into the game, learn about the weapons, gear and classes, I started off with a warlock then I switched to Hunter it become my main class since, it fits my play style. Recently I watched all the build guides and it made my destiny experience better, I played with random players and joined a clan who are extremely helpful and patient. My advice from one new light to another, don't rush, learn about which class fits your play style or which class along with the builds suits it to make your experience better, and find a clan that is willing to help new lights.

Honest advice to make your experience more enjoyable, it’s okay to look up good build and good weapons but make sure you try everything yourself. Everyone has a different play style. Just find what you find fun, and play that. Weapons and builds aren’t really needed until late game. So just have fun and don’t rush through the game.

It's also a great time for veteran player who have only mained one class to explore another class cuz you don't have to light lvl, you just grab the gear in the chest next to shaxx in the hall. And you are probably flush w resources from this super long season so you can actually afford to unlock all the light classes fragments and aspect from irora and invest in some build crafting. Ive invested in a hunter the last couple weeks and have really been enjoying playing a new to me class.

As a player who came into d2 in season of the lost and a f2p solo. I only lasted that season before started playing something else. Saw LightFall was free on ps so i decided to hop back into it and see whats changed and a lot has changed. Like discipline is important now for everyone not just titan. Its like i gotta remember how to play the game again after so long and not sure whats important to focus on. Last thing i remember doing was grinding dream city, Legendary lost sectors, and nightfalls.

For any new lights, just use what feels good for you! There are so many metas and builds you can look up but that can over whelm you, stick to what feels good and the more time you put into the game the more you can grow and learn! (I'd also suggest going Void, or Solar for your elemental subclasses, they tend to be easier for healing you up and doing damage regardless of whether you're titan, warlock, or hunter)

For new light hunters, I actually recommend getting the arc hunter kit. Reason being is that you get one of the best exotics to pair with arc from the hall of heroes chest next to shaxx for free.

Here’s some tips: if you find elemental weapons they might have a unique perk to them other elementL weapons don’t get. Hatchling/Slice, Voltshot, Incandescent/Heal Clip, Repulser Brace/Volatile Rounds and Headstone/Cold Steel. Weapons with these perks are key to your subclasses as they will mesh perfectly for whatever build you have. You don’t have to have all slots with this element only 1 is fine, but the synergy between these special guns and your subclass is awesome. Think of it like Borderlands with class mods but easier and arguably better. Don’t be that guardian running voltshot on a strand subclass and not taking advantage of the arc verbs 🙃

Voltshot(Arc), incandescent(Solar), volatility(Void) never play these subclasses without these perks. You will dominate if you build into them. If you use strand (and you should) you want to go for a puppetry build

For all my new lights out there quick tip. Yellow bars and champions take triple melee damage and bosses take up to 4x melee damage now this will not be as much as you heavy weapon use that first but when your if whatever it is us still alive using either a melee ability or you base melee is a sure fire way to finish it off.

Note that all weapons are shared between your characters via the shared stash called the vault. So make at least two chars and grab both the purple and red new light kits to get the two really good exotic weapons! Really just make all three and grab all three so you don't have to do the Riskrunner quest.

I’ve played this game fairly consistently since beginning of d1. Right now, season 23, hunter nightstalkers are very good along with gunslingers. NS for add control and support kits, GS for high dmg output and general fun. Titans with strand(it is locked behind lightfall) are potent, but synthoceps are prob the best titan exotic. Second would prob be wormgods caress. Worlocks, unfortunately it’s well of radiance. The rest of the subclasses are fine on warlock, but I also don’t have the play experience to tell you what’s really good on warlock.

Invest materials in your armour as soon as you get a decent set “the first set of season pass armour works for this” of armour. Limiting your armours power limits what you are capable of. Even at 7/10 most armour has enough power for buildcrafting

Pick two stats you want to max out first to 100, later 3 stats but this way you can min max your armor to whatever build or play style suits you

Best advice for new players is to just not really look at and built videos or worry about what's meta or not or anything like that. You only get to experience this game for the first time once, just play the game and enjoy the mystery and not knowing everything. Once you really wanna start moving into harder content like raids, then start looking up meta weapons/builds

Big tip: use what you like, there will always be a meta of what's best but unless you're doing pinnacle content (raids, grandmaster nightfall) you don't need a meta build. If you want to use a random 720 auto rifle because you like it, then use it. You do not have to be a sweatlord in every aspect of the game. Do not let people tell you what you can and cannot use. You can clear almost everything the game has to offer with any loadout you desire

Yeah, my GF is new light since 2 weeks, hasn’t paid a dime and is already enjoying some decent exotics…I mean, yeah a fair bit of loot is behind a paywall but there are 2 dungeons and 3 raids completely free, multiple strikes, couple nightfalls, legend lost sectors, a ton of world drops plus Onslaught now with a great loot pool….gf chose Voidwalker as her first subclass to learn, try telling her that Contraverse Hold and Graviton Lance aren’t fun? C’mon dude you’re exaggerating massively.

I say this to bother Cross, and ALSO there should be free activity for the 30th anniversary called Dare of Eternity. Maybe the Wastelander isn't META, but I love the gun and there are many other great weapons. Swords for the Speedrunners, a beam rifle, and you can also get your hands on the Exotic Forerunner as a big ole pistol that would make the Chief proud.

If I’m just bumming around on patrol I often like to head over to the Cosmodrome and say hi to any lvl 1,2 I see. I make sure I’m always wearing some good drip, nice sparrow and ship and using an interesting weapon or armour. Then I’ll show them how to activate heroic public events and show off some build/abilities. When the event ends I’ll do a multiplayer emote and just generally say hi/welcome. It’s resulted in a lot of new players immediately inspecting my character and a few friend/help requests lol. Point being it’s important for new players to feel welcome and when they inspect my character they get a good feel for the loot that D2 has to offer. I also think it’s important for Vets to lend new players a helping hand because the new light experience is really confusing for first time players. One more thing, if you’re running strikes and there’s a low level player with you…don’t just run off and leave them behind, stick around and wait for them, they’re NEW, not stupid.

Also a tip for new players that must be included is: make it your main focus to collect gear with a high resillence stat. The higher your resillence the harder you are to kill. This is very important if you are trying to complete harder activities since the enemies in these activity do more damage. This stat caps out at 100 so no need to go higher than that. This will make your life in end game activities a lot easier but also helps with everything else

If you want a game that’s got a ton of content and you’re a completionist, then you’ll love it. If you just wanna play pvp all day, that’s possible although idk how well it compares to other PvP games and modes. That can be up to your judgment. It’s one of those games you can get attached to if you put in a lot of time. You know the kind.

i used to play d1 and it was so good, constrantly maxxing characters and having to rebuild when i got bored. d2 is great and constantly growing, take ur time to get comfortable with it, sit in vanguard or crucible if you have to, find some friends or dont, destiny is made for single and multiplayer so if youre by yourself dont worry, its kinda designed for that :0
