Janapada Impu (ಜನಪದ ಇಂಪು) a series of Kannada Folk songs is an attempt to present Janapada Songs in its simplest raw form without the use of any musical instruments.
In this Educational Series we present to you many Janapada songs which you can learn, hum along and sing. This time we present to you a Sobane folk song “Soo Yennire Sobane Bannire”.
Sobane Padas are songs sung on various occasions. Be it at Baby Showers, wedding ceremonies, Cradle Rituals, puberty functions, while threshing grain, when husking rice, when working together in the field, during festivals, and so on, our people sing different sobane padas according to the context and the ritual. Sobane padas are usually sung in groups, with everyone joining in rhythm with the word “so…” as a chorus after every line. The beauty of the song multiplies and everyone feels involved in the festive celebration when the gathered joins together and sings as "so”.
Janapada songs are a reflection of the diversity of our culture. Let us do our part in preserving the rich heritage & tradition of Janapada and rejoice the richness of our language.

ಗಣಕೆಯ ಸೊಪ್ಪು ಮುಡಕೊಂಡು ಹೆಣ್ಣೋರಕ್ಕ ಪುಣಕ ಪುಣಕಾನೆ ನೆಗೆದಾಳು
