I work in the oilpatch and work 3 weeks on and 2 weeks off. For those 3 weeks im sober, when the days off start i see alcohol as a reward and it spirals into the dt's but im trying to change. Hang in bud

Day 3... Go you! Mind over grog, you can do it

Hungry angry lonely or tired all dangerous places oh add bars too lol. Obsession & compulsion once that settles in you will likely drink unless you have options, your facing the DISEASE now and better find something to hold onto and change the way you feel. So i remember those first days I have 19 years coming up, i had a few close calls but i had relapsed so many times in the past new what was going on, SO i went into prayer that was my action behind the obsession and I was given a way out,. Once i simply said to myself im gonna take a shower and get ready to go use IF i get out of the shower not wanting to use i wont go by the time i was done the obsession left me and I stayed sober I also called my sponsor which was hard because I HAD TO TELL ON MYSELF. Look we know its more then we can handle alone and if you don't think so then your lying to yourself or in denial, we all need support from something or some one or both, this is why AA and NA work for a lot of us, but you have to be willing most aren't willing to be rigorously honest AND DO EVERYTHING THAT IS SUGGESTED , thats the first step ADMIT we are powerless and if you think you have that power then quit forever on your own many have done it but usually they have a damn good important reason too like losing a loved one or a family, going to jail or prion, DYING etc etc. and just maybe they weren't REAL ALCOHOLICS because honestly most cant do it alone if they are period. It cunning, its baffling and its powerful .

Well done. Have you tried pouring a nice non alco cider into a nice whisky glass with heaps of ice to sip on as a placebo for when you get home from work. It works for me.
