Yeah, it's a distraction thing. Kinda wack imo, but effective nonetheless I suppose.

Probably distraction, but also probably to more easily set up a hand parry. Robert does this in rapier as well.

@@justanothercomment4701 He started doing it as a way to remind himself that the hand is there to parry and keep it active. He noticed it had other benefits such as distraction.

​@@casualseraph709was to remember to use his off hand and also distracts people. Idk why you say its wack. More people should be using slight of hand in fencing. Its fighting 101 to control where your opponent is looking or get them to look where you want to hide something else your doing.
