Football fans used to say "Ronaldo made people love Real Madrid, Messi made people love Barcelona but Ronaldinho made people love Football " That charismatic smile is unique. I was able to watch him on his prime, I'm not a Barcelona fan, but I remember watching every single game to see this magician with the ball on his feet.

I think this Ronaldinho video its not the best to show how good he actually was, lots of camera shots were from too close to show all his skills, but he was way more than just skills. Speed, power, vision, IQ, unmatched ball control... pure magician, he had it all.

Especially someone who plays soccer. Like how do you do - any - sport, heck any competitive hobby, without knowing the most popular people in the sport/hobby? Even when you learn about certain techniques in sport, unless you're not really interested in it, you will inevitably learn about people. How can you know about elastico without knowing the man who perfected it - ronaldinho?

It wasn't always just called "football" in England, since there were multiple types of football, mainly association football and rugby football. Soccer(from association) was the slang word used to indicate association football, the type of football we now simply call football. So soccer was originally used in England to talk about association football. As this type of football became the clearly dominant type of football, people switched to just calling it "football". The Americans using soccer are actually using the original English term that was used for the sport. Hope you are better educated on the topic now. You're welcome.

Eu acho que o Pelé fez isso, ele zerou o futebol, mas serviu de inspiração e não uma ressaca, porque o futebol tinha muito pra crescer. O Pelé pegou o futebol na quinta posição, já era um esporte em declínio, com menos da metade da audiencia dos esportes a frente, e entregou futebol na liderança com o dobro de audiência. Por isso era considerado o embaixador do futebol, literalmente atuava como embaixador. Mas eu concordo que o futebol entrou numa ressaca depois do Ronaldinho, não por culpa dele, mas ele foi o ápice, o maior showman depois de Pelé, e coincide com o ápice de popularidade do futebol, quando atingiu os maiores níveis de audiência. Depois disso o futebol entrou em um declinio gradual, ainda é o maior esporte, mas já da pra perceber claramente que não é a mesma coisa, esgotou a fonte de inspiração e o talento individual sucumbiu numa era de tática coletiva. Na minha experiência eu lembro que todo mundo falava do homem, todo mundo parava pra ver ele jogar no Barcelona, até quem não gostava de futebol, era certeza de espetáculo, eu nunca vi um time e um jogador tão badalados globalmente, nem Messi e CR7, que construiram carreiras maiores e mais dominantes, também conseguiram ser personalidades além o futebol, mas não atrairam tanta atenção do mundo apenas pela arte do futebol como o Ronaldinho fez naquele momento. Eu acho que foi um fenômeno irrepetível, o cara certo, no lugar certo e na hora certa.

For some reason, I felt overwhelmed with emotion watching this, all the memories of watching Ronaldinho as a kid flooding back to me. It was such a joy to watch Ronaldinho in his prime. He was one of the players that made me fall in love with football, the way he plays really epitomizes "the beautiful game".

The thing that always gets me about Ronaldhino ... I coach HS soccer in the US; I can pull of some of those moves against my players when we run scrimmages. But if I play against other players my age/skill level I can no longer make folks look stupid consistently. Ronaldhino ... he pulled off these training ground tricks and stunts against La Liga and other top-flight players every single game! And even thought they absolutely had to know what was coming, they could do nothing about it. He was the epitomy of awe-inspiring.

Ronaldinho was the reason why I started to love football (soccer) when I was a kid, he was a magician. Young Messi played in Barca at the time when Ronaldinho was the biggest star there, Messi learned many things from him, Ronaldinho supported Messi and always said that Messi is gonna be the greatest football player.

Really, it's so rare to see players like Ronaldinho nowadays. I couldn't miss a single match of his between 2003 and 2006, you never knew what trick he was gonna do. And most importantly, he was effective and won trophies with his skills and tricks, unlike other tricksters like denilson.

Ronaldinho is known as 'The Wizard' because he is simply recognized as the most skillful player who has ever existed. He is referenced here in Brazil not only for his footballing ability but also for being an extremely affectionate person with the public. Ronaldinho was simply complete on the field. He was a great free-kick taker, incredibly fast, accurate in his passes, had great field vision, meaning he would set up his teammates for scoring opportunities. Anyone who loves football certainly loves this guy's football.

This video doesn't come close to showing the full quality of Ronaldinho at his prime. He was fast, he was strong, a great finisher, a great passer, a genius with free kicks, technique and creativity beyond the ordinary. He had an absurd charisma to the point that the Real Madrid fans gave him a standing ovation during an El Classico. He is the eternal Bruxo (Wizard) of Brazilian football. I never liked Barcelona but seeing him there was magical. Definitely one of the greatest in the history of our Brazil ❤️🇧🇷

At his peak Ronaldinho was the best player of all time in my opinion. That's some of the best players in the world he's doing all this to. Sergio Ramos, Gattuso, Gerrard, Maldini, Guti, Scholes, Pirlo, Casillas and more. 6:17 That is why some teams let a player lie down behind the wall nowadays. Even Messi did it which caused some turbulence. 1:49 This is when Barca's biggest rival Real Madrid fans gave Ronaldinho a standing ovation because of his performance. Eto'o who was Barcelona's goal scorer at the time said this afterwards: ""When Ronaldinho scored that goal when he got rid of everyone, even his teammates, I stood there in disbelief, looked to one side and muttered to myself: 'But, what is happening?' So Married to a Brazilian lady for 39 years, learning and speaking Brazilian Portuguese and of course having watched all of Ronaldinho's career, his name is pronounced phonetically Ho-nal -jin-yo Gau-u-sho. Funny, I always thought Portuguese sounded a bit like Spanish with French pronunications. Definitely, the Brazilian portuguese is very sensual and fun to speak.

Ufff man recuerdo antes que llegara ronaldinho... Perder 6 a 0 contra el alaves era doloroso, que epocas oscuras. Este bro llego con su energia increible y le dio vuelta al equipo y al estadio, recuerdo que la vibra era horrible y todo el mundo con su pañito blanco, poco a poco fue dando vida al club y al futbol del barca, el mejor maestro que Messi pudo tener justo cuando le tocaba al messias comenzar su etapa en el primer equipo, que lindos tiempos.

the guy was a monster. Giving perfect passes all match, with everything. Looking, not looking, with his feet, should back, legs... and the control was insane. Was awesome to see him playing live.

@@Red-bp3po Creio que após Pelé o Ronaldinho Gaúcho tenha sido o mais habilidoso, o melhor showman, o que dava mais graça ao espetáculo. A maior diferença entre estas gerações é a disponibilidade de imagens, que a partir da década de 90 foi exponencialmente maior. Mesmo assim ainda há muito material disponível sobre o Pelé. Eu ainda vi o Pelé jogar e ele está acima de todos.

This Man started the coming back of Barcelona back in the day, he was the begining of greatness and one of the best teachers Messi could have, he was a great influence and he even gave Messi the pass for his first goal at 17 with the first team, lobbed pass, lobbed goal. Oh man, how I miss those times. Ronaldinho and his chest and back passes, the elastica, the no looking pass, even his first goal with Barcelona was a monstrous cannon that almost broke the middle post, at 4:35 that's the one. Nostalgia at it's finest.

To me the most amazing thing always was how he could do this magic while running so fast. Someof his moves looked like fictional scenes from that Japanese football anime. Sometimes the defenders were so confused they couldn't even foul him.
