No other modern day sportsman has been labeled the ‘best ever’ more times than the Argentina/Barcelona legend Lionel Messi. His genius is undoubtedly one of a kind and it seems highly unlikely that we will witness someone similar in our lifetime. Messi is unarguably one of those few players who would shadow any other great player. Is the Rosarino (from Rosario) the best player ever? Lest he remains at least in the same bracket as Maradona, Pele and Cruyff when he decides to hang up his boots. There’s no doubt that we will tell tales of Messi to the next generations a few decades from now. We'd sooner revel in his greatness, watching on this video than making senseless comparisons. The great Wayne Rooney said it best: “Don’t write about him, don’t try to describe him. Just watch him.”

Verdy is spot on. Messi doesn't find spaces, he creates them. Watch how he slices through the backline, and beckons the goalie to shift his right expecting Messi, a left footed to strike towards his left while the backline fans out following him as they expect him to angle further left but then he crosses the ball to his right fooling goalkeeper+defenders. They never had a chance. Messi can run with the ball at a hundred percent full speed. Count the touches he takes on the count of one hand. The ball is just glued/tied to his foot. Virtually impossible to counter!... Wait, what? Who says Maradona, also short and left-footed? In my humble opinion Messi is better than Maradona; more complete, more consistent, more spectacular. Simply put Messi reinvented the game - a mix of the real and the virtual.

Our country is having very rough times, and Messi and the national team they made us so happy and made us forget everything bad that was going on and made us be united with each other. I've watched how wonderfully he keeps his knees in when he dribbles, how close he keeps the ball while moving at speed, and how his short quick strides enable him to balance through traffic. I can only imagine his brain reacting to body shifts by defenders and using that knowledge instantly. His mastery of field vision and complete focus when he has the ball makes everyone want to know what it feels like to fill those shoes just once.

Wonderful reactions. It's nice watching reactions from someone who has knowledge of the game to understand the difficulty of these moments. For #40, I wouldn't be too hard on the team, they were scared of going near him, at that time in the game, he had dribbled more than half of the guys on the field once or twice, he was in "that mood" that night and getting near him meant getting dribbled

Coincido con todo lo que dijeron pero va más allá de "golazos" que te regala, el peor partido de Messi es el prime de cualquier otro jugador, siempre intenta crear el juego, abriendo los espacios o haciendo asistencias, obviamente antes lo hacía regateando TAMBIÉN porque era más rápido. Siempre creando fútbol, para mi el mejor de todos los tiempos

Even highlights doesnt do him justice. You have to watch the games to see his absolute brilliance. Everytime he got the ball, People knew there was a very high chance for him to score or assist, it was absolutely absurd to watch. I was glued infront of the TV every single Barcelona game.

Many great players in football history, Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldo, but I had never seen a player that can do it all, and do it almost perfect: pass, dribble, scoring, free throws. He is in a league of his own. For me, today, no doubt, the best player in history and for this reason, there is nothing other players can do and messi can not.
