The best way to become a better defender really boils down to 2 things in my experience 1 - spend as much time as possible actually playing defense. Whether it be in organized and officiated games, pickup games, small sided games, or fun activities like around the world or doing 1v1s, you need to physically practice defensive skills like slide tackling, shielding, intercepting passes, containing, and building out of the back 2 - you need to increase your knowledge of the game. Defending at a high level is genuinely a very IQ based task. You have to know what to do in a 2 v 1 situation where the attackers try a give and go, you need to learn how and when to set an offsides trap, know when it’s time to build out of the back vs clearing the ball, how to respond to pressure, and know when it’s time to drive forward on top of several other things. I would recommend watching Become Elite’s film breakdowns from his professional games. They’ve helped me improve a lot during my first two college seasons so far and I’m sure they’ll continue to help as I go into my third season

@@Auditore363 you can play at any grassy area like a park or smth or even in the street plus playing barefoot is good because its harder and when you master it and you put on the shoes youre gonna be a master in the field, one of my friends used to play on the streets when he got boots and played in the school field he became a master at football, but you can do whatever you like in the end

@@kaakop4 The streets are a very big risk since there are cars everywhere and it's practically impossible since where I live the houses don't have a front yard so if I just do anything that breaks a car window then I'm done for and there's also no park here.
