What is social justice and how does it compare and contrast with biblical justice? In this episode, Sean and Scott discuss the recent book by economist Thomas Sowell called Social Justice Fallacies. According to Sowell, many things thought to be true today about justice efforts do not line up with the facts. As a result, many social justice efforts have had catastrophic consequences. Join Sean and Scott for a provocative discussion.

@Sean McDowell, I would encourage you to read Bernadette P. Chachere article "The Economics of Thomas Sowell: A Critique of Markets and Minorities." She does a good job of interacting and critiquing many of the arguments that Sowell uses. She also highlights the methods that Sowell uses in ignoring data that contradicts his conclusions. There are other scholars that interact with Sowell like Thomas D. Boston in his work "Race, Class and Conservatism." Nobody is afraid of Sowell. The truth is, Sowell writes a lot of popular works, and his arguments are not scholarly. Therefore, serious scholars dont really waste their time on a person who has not contributed much to the field of economics. On the other hand, Sowell is operating in the field of Sociology and his arguments wont stand up there either.

Just for reference, as mentioned in the episode Sowell is with the Hoover Institution, which is a right wing think tank.

I know that Biola has a few fine scholars on their staff. That is what makes this very diappointing presentaion so sad. A shallow definition of "justice" preceded by modern, western, conservative political ethics. Then turning to an ahtiest commentator who's grounding ethic for his work is the disbelief in cosmic justice. Something that the Scriptures are all about. You guys have to do better.

I can't believe you guys are actually reviewing Sowell! Hallelujah! Looks like the Sowell haters are already chiming in though; I'll pray you guys don't cave to the pressure to conform to the progressive agenda. Don't let the Alinskyites use your healthy sense of Christian guilt and shame against you!

Sir, why is it that you comment not on the substance of anyone's comment but on the feelings and belief systems of people you do not know?
