I want to add for the record, if you are given a chance to redeem yourself, and you don’t tread lightly in your next chapter, or you make decisions that make people continually suspicious of you…that’s on you. Being granted a second chance is a privilege, but not a guarantee for changed behavior. No matter what happens next, I still believe the interview served a good purpose and I still stand by the choice to allow people to tell their own stories especially in situations where they’ve been written off in hopes that they can have a new beginning.

Da'Naia Jackson's situation is proof that its better to be single than to be mistreated in a marriage. Being married isn't always a flex, because not every marriage is a happy healthy one. Stay single until you find a man that's worth a damn.

Unfortunately I’m in a situation where I have been married for 16 years and my husband is verbally abusive at times. I go ave learned not to trigger him by my actions and not using certain words in his presence. We also have two teenagers that I am still staying in the marriage for until they are 18 and out of the house.

Exactly. Even if your partner is wealthy and high earning doesn’t mean they are better than being single. I’d rather be in my 1 bedroom comfy apartment and working full time then in a life of luxury being cheated on, mistreated and disrespected. Constantly having to be small and limit myself.

to be honest, she went on in this marriage knowing very well who he was and how he was. she was a willing participant, that JUST did not happen...he did not switch on her..he was always like this. Mind you she cries now cuz this man did not want the charade to last so long. He the one that went on and asked for dicvorce not her...and she did not believe it. I'm happy she's on her own now, but she needs healing not trying to scam people with god's name

I'm glad you said the redemption of Da’Naia Jaxon. So many people didn't give her grace at her breaking point. But maybe they were triggared because they had similar situations going on. I'd just like to say, her trauma definitely was the root of what happened to her. She said at 19 years old she was raped. And 3 weeks later she met Derrick. Right there Derrick probably could see the vulnerability/target on her. And because she never addressed/healed from that, Derrick was able to break her down further.

Listen 😅 if you took the curse personally I’m inclined to think you were of the many folk who were so vile with their opinions and scrutiny towards her at that time. When she said that it flew RIGHT past me. Not only because I immediately understood she was speaking to those with an ill tongue toward her (and I wasn’t one of ‘em) but also because I saw CLEARLY that she wasn’t well and was holding on for dear life. Grace is so rare in this world it’s sad. So idk… I also don’t think it’s realistic to hurt someone and then scrutinize how they respond to the pain you’ve inflicted 🤷🏽‍♀️.

🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ a lot of times we only look at someone’s reaction and not what we might have done to incur that response. Then we demand they take accountability but neglect ourselves in that situation. I think that’s what happened here.

I don’t know why people keep trying to justify the curse. It was wrong point blank. I definitely agree that you can’t control how people grieve and hurt can make you do all sorts of things. But that doesn’t mean that all actions one takes while hurt are okay. The words were vile especially towards people who were condemning Derricks evilness towards the marriage. And given the fact that he called for a divorce before the initial video yet they still made that video and she made others to defend her “man” yet cursed people who rightfully called him out for his wrongdoing is crazy to me. We can have grace and sympathize (which I hope we all have for her story) and also call out wrongdoing

@@deboraha6696 well unfortunately idk who “people” is, but I do know me. And I DON’T condone curses. Not even a little bit. Now, taking a look at what we can see so far: not taking the time to heal from SA, blaming one’s self for the SA staying in an abusive relationship, actively becoming a toxic participant within it, and then “cursing” those who also cursed you. Which of those do you think should be her top priority to address within herself? Also, something that gets me every time, who exactly are WE to be handing people a list of what they need to be accountable for? 🧐 I suppose unless Jesus or the most high appointed you to do so, and then in that case lemme be quiet 🤭🙄 Let me be clear, taking accountability for your mistakes is ALWAYS needed. People in your business as you do so, IS NOT- beside those you’ve hurt with your actions/decisions. .. for her that would probably be her children, maybe family too… dassit.

I watched the interview - my take away is to operate from a place of not fear. When you operate from a place of lack, you are desperate for medicore or expected value (to be married). I watched someone who lives in her van, a lot of people question was why she is happy. We have this value everyone should live in a house or perhaps not car. To know yourself and enjoy your own company is a growth but to heal from trauma is a journey. Al is not going to create a discernment to make decision for the things we post online. Humans can, it is a question of connecting with one's authenticity. My rule of thumb is if you have to record yourself, edit in anger, fear etc then you should not post. Every post should be for your audience to bring value and positive. Your comment session should motivate you ❤

I just think women were so cruel to her when she was going through that intial public humiliation. I didnt understand why people were saying she looked crazy in hr bonnet/beret. From the perspective of someone who rarely ever wears makeup and mostly wears tbeir natural hair she looked fine to me. It made me wonder if for some women, if you're not wearing a wig and a pound of makeup then you cannot be presentable to tbe world. It was like buzzards descending on rotten flesh for a feeding frenzy the way some women attacked her. As to the curse - I guess because I'm not a Christian it didnt mean a thing to me but it's a perfectly human response to lash out at someone attacking you. I did watch the interview and i feel so deeply for her. But I felt compassion for her before that. I wish her healing and strength. I do find this Christianity thing problematic. I'm beginning to think the indoctrination that some women experience from birth is what lead them down this path to begin with. I wish her the best.

Also, the fact that you mentioned not being a Christian, but having compassion for her.. All I’ll say is this: a lot of people look at her and have a lot of judgment. At the end of the day, she didn’t have to have an interview. She didn’t have to share the ugliness of her life. She didn’t have to go into detail about the hurt she experienced, as well as the hurt she caused. There is testimony in every trial and if she chooses to shift her life and really have God work on her heart, I’m all for it. Da’Naia isn’t the first person to recite Psalms 109 (or any of the other ‘cursing Psalms’) against people whose behavior was simply put - an attack on her psyche and heart. She won’t be the last, either. People kill me with the faux outrage and sanctimony.

This is why I love your channel you are compassionate yet apply insightful critique without malice and finger pointing. I have nothing but empathy for Da'naia she is obviously in a cycle of abuse and destructive patterns that have affected her so deeply that the more destructive they were the more she held on. Suffering from critical low self-esteem, abandonment and unprocessed abuse is what got her here. We can all relate to Da'naia in some ways. I glad she was given the grace to speak freely and wasn't manipulated to create for "entertainment" purposes.

There are a plethora of Da’Naias cloaked in BBLs, lace fronts, beat faces, ghetto luxury, and all the other cover ups we associate with stunting, especially for the social media. I appreciate this analysis and am saddened by the fact that she was put out on front street by someone who was supposed to protect her. She unfortunately got caught up in the trappings of a certain lifestyle that was afforded to her through his deceptive cons that ended up being to her own detriment, Similar to the First Lady of many pastors preachers. Without her either helping his brand or building her own, she and her kids don’t eat. She has to start somewhere. I only pray that Laterras was being genuine in giving her a platform. Look at her now. I also pray that Derrick rights his wrongs to her , the kids, as well as himself, whether there be a reconciliation or not. Great talk!

The people that judged and laughed the loudest were some of the very people that are in similar situations… maybe not as extreme but still similar. The women I know that did not judge harshly or laugh were the ones that had long ago left relationships like hers… including myself. God bless her for being so transparent.

Hey Steph thanks for your valued contribution to this conversation. I did not consider your perspective through the lens of DaNaia being a hopeful content creator. As a survivor of narcissistic abuse on the more severe side of the spectrum I found it difficult to watch the laughing and giggling during the retelling of seemingly innocent yet highly abusive and predatory tactics used by her husband. This was no ordinary relationship even from it's inception and the most important part of sharing a story this horrific is to make suseptible persons aware of the nuances of narcissistic abuse particularly in the beginning stages of the relationship when it seems to be wonderful. Otherwise, I am so happy that she is now free of him and wish her healing of the deepest and purest kind.

I’m commenting this before I hear your input so I’m not biased. 1. I think she went on the right platform to share her story 2. A lot of women have been delulu over a man, I’ve seen it the most when I was in church. The church is full of Mrs. Jackson’s but there’s absolutely delulu women that’s not in church 3. I loved that she really bared it all and I know there’s a lot of women who can relate. Maybe not on the most extreme end that she constantly picked, but the wanting a person who clearly doesn’t feel the same way and accepting bottom of the barrel treatment from an emotionally unavailable man. 4. I applaud her for seeking outside help and holding on to her faith, men will absolutely take you there if you let them 5. Her having a SA she never unpacked and an absent father I’m not surprised she put up with a lot of what she did. 6. She took accountability for a lot of her actions, she admitted she was a willing participant 7. The Vagabonds prayer still rubbed me the wrong way. People called it a spell b/c while she won’t admit it, that’s absolutely how she chose to use her words. Her being dense about her intentions with how she used that scripture absolutely made me side eye her 8. If you know your man is a cheater and you’re not gonna leave, let that man cheat in peace 9. Some women who will allow mistreatment to happen eventually leave. She never left. She had absolutely NO self esteem and no self worth and after awhile I had frowned in embarrassment as I was listening because she never had her enough was enough. She absolutely would’ve snapped and killed her whole household. 10. It dawned on me when she mentioned that he said he wanted a divorce HE HAD TO END THE MARRIAGE, after all that she wasn’t the one who initiated the separation. She would still be in that marriage because she apologized to him and in return he asked for a divorce, even he couldn’t take mistreating her any more lol it probably wasn’t fun or any thrill left 11. She was forced to heal and be separated because he ended things, she would’ve never done it. They still have a lot of coparenting years left so I wonder how that will go, especially if he meets someone that he’s serious with 12. I absolutely wish her the best, she is a cautionary tale to the delulu girls, to the abandonment issues girls, I advise everyone to know their attachment styles and gather some self esteem so you don’t ever go down such an extreme path that she did. We will all have a delusional era with love and take someone back that we shouldn’t but it should never be that extreme. Your inner self worth should tell you enough is enough after awhile.

I’m glad she shared her voice. It is so needed! Her story is still being written and I would be interested in reading more chapters. She is still very much in the process of healing - still wading. It’s clear there are things she hasn’t grappled with. While I think she should craft a brand - I just don’t think she’s going to get the traction she possibly could without more inward reflection. Be bold in your love of God, but coldness doesn’t have to accompany this. She was unraveling during that infamous sit down with Jackson and during the “curse” she handed down - and the dynamic interviewer was attempting to get her to stand in the fact that she was unraveling, rather than place it solely on God’s shoulders. She is not quite there and still banishes folks to hell.

I watched both interviews too and feel like she did a pretty good job at taking accountability for the role she played in her relationship. The part that I didn’t like, which I think the person you referenced was right, was that she tried to downplay what she was doing with psalm 109. Although I wasn’t personally offended because I wasn’t necessarily one of the ppl it was directed at, I could tell her intent at the time was definitely not wholesome like she tried to make it seem in the interview. Her healing definitely will be a process and maybe helping other women will give her the time to process whatever she needs.

I do not understand why anyone would go online, watch a video about an experience they do not understand, and proceed to attack (not critique) the speaker. Why did they even watch the video in the first place if they were not the target audience? If someone gets online and says they have experienced something, the fact that YOU haven't experienced it does not invalidate the speaker's experience. Now there are some gray areas, but for the most part, if you can't empathize with the speaker, just watch another video 🤷🏾‍♀️ It's negative attention-seeking/trolling.

It has bothered me how cruel people namely other black women have been so harsh towards her for essentially getting the fairytale that turned out to be a glass cage. It is so good to hear another black woman handling her with grace and understanding. I am so here for her to find and monetize her own voice and mission. She’s certainly been behind the scenes long enough to know how to do it for herself and her children.

Anyone else was VERY put off by Laterras' constant laughter during the interview? I understand incorporating humor here and there to lighten the mood but the constant geep geeping really turned me off. Here this woman is baring her soul, telling her story of what she endured for over a decade and you're not treating it with even an ounce of the seriousness it deserves. Making a mockery of it. As if infidelity is even remotely funny. And she as the interviewee naturally fed off his energy and also went along trying to make a truly unfortunate situation humorous. I'm not sure if he was subconsciously uncomfortable because of his history with infidelity in his previous marriage (& I will say that I watched other videos on his channel that were very well done) but man, did his trivializing of her experience piss me off. Idk, I just had to get that off my chest.

I watched the interview & was shook. She knew exactly what she was getting herself into before she even got married. She blackmailed him twice by using the kids to be able to be with him. She moved after him 3 times. Gave up her family. She aborted babies. Ppl supporting Derrick & calling her crazy & boring are just as clueless as ppl yes queening her & saying she should write a book. We heard her side of the story. We do not know how many untruths there were as she is also a liar. She called herself manipulative. She participated in the lies Derrick sold to his audience because it benefitted her. I really do feel sad for her kids. Wish they atleast had the good sense to not involve kids in this mess. Da'naia has a long way to go, she is not healed as ppl are saying. She should focus on self respect, self love, boundaries & taking full responsibility for enabling him in this toxic situation because of her own toxicity. I could see her need to make money & thinking coaching is her way to do it but she is not ready unless she wants to grift & lie to her audience like Derrick showed her. Accountability does not only mean being willing to admit your mistakes. There is a 2nd part: Making the changes to result in different behaviors & growth. I honestly hope the best for her & her kids.
