Between people who want to "keep things as they are" and people who want to " change things because change is progress", we seem to not allow even a thought about actual compromises based on best practices that would allow us all to both keep what we value and need and introduce new things that we would value and need. Instead we have a society where poor argue over abstracts while rich simply take everything because noone is stoping them. We are kept in intelectual extremes for a reason and reason is control.

That was... dumb. Random without any kind of point, nor any relevant metaphor or analogy. If an attempt at some kind of dark humor it fell flat. The ending was like a motivational poster on the bedroom wall of an adolescent.

Interesting reaction. Are you familiar with the Long Now Foundation? They are an organization that promotes long-term thinking, basically a futurist org. Jane McGonigal is a professional futurist. So it makes perfect sense that they'd invite her as a speaker, first of all. Secondly, what she's talking isn't random at all. She is presenting three future scenarios that are both radically different from the present and yet plausible. Why did Covid take the world by such surprise? Because before it happened people found a global pandemic to be unimaginable, and therein lied the problem. We know from research that when people imagine and engage with a broad range of futures that seem "unimaginable" to themselves now and yet are plausible, they become so much better equipped to be more mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially efficacious and resilient if/when those futures occur. And one of the most engaging and stimulating ways to engage with hypothetical futures is through something called "social simulations" that can be carried out online. This is what she's talking about.
