Messages for practice
1. Health and social care practitioners need to be aware of just what restraint is and must talk about the subject freely and openly, without taboo.
2. Health and social care practitioners need to ensure that people's human rights are respected.
3. The Mental Capacity Act states that restraint should only be used as a last resort when other options have been eliminated and its use must always be minimised..
4. Putting people who use services at the centre of decisions about their care can minimise restraint.
What is the video about?
In this film we examine how good practice in health and social care needs to take account of an individual's human rights. Using a person centred approach by putting people at the centre of decisions about their care can minimise restraint.
Who will find this useful?
Care Providers, social workers, registered managers, care staff, nursing staff, social work students, student nurses, front line practitioners.

Some people have never understood about it. They never respected other people's right or choice. They want only the followers who obay and believe what they say or order as if they're their slaves or officers.

I cannot believe this video failed to mention schools where restraint on children is much more common and should be investigated more thoroughly. Perhaps this shows how disconnected the SCIE is from education.

so its okay for nurses who work in mental health get punched by patients and beaten up by patients but its not okay for nurses to stop those actions from happening by restraining them? These people who enforce these have no personal experience in working in mental health hospital settings whatsoever... these are the academic people who never once worked in a heavily mental health hospital at all. you can tell. they're enforcing things that have saved multiple nurses lives in the past.
