Well, as I see it, the Dad WAS evil! That's why the kid threatened him about making her cry again. And one ciuld argue he was justified in doing what he did. Manipulating that situation. But what makes the kid sociopathic is the smile at the end. He ENJOYED "killing"his father! THAT aint right!
@user-kr2pv5ho5s4 жыл бұрын
Kathy Hines Just cause someone with ASPD doesn’t have emotions, doesn’t mean they enjoy killing someone. That would be a sadistic person. What I think the kid felt is more that way: „Mom, gets beaten up, I don’t like that. I need to find a solution for it..that could work! Finally, he can’t hurt her anymore, it’s over. I‘m happy that everything worked like it was planned. Mom, doesn’t need to suffer anymore“. The kid could be labeled with ASPD, cause it has a lack of emotions, but his way to process empathy is different. He likes his mother, by his own way. That’s the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath, sociopaths are able to have empathy and become that way by trauma. People need to make research about ASPD. That’s a extreme example for someone with ASpD, but not all are that way. That are humans too.

Svetlanka, I understand your view on the piece, but I'm curious why you think the father is the sociopath. The kid manipulated the situation, not the father. Me, as a filmmaker, I also manipulated the situation, to make you think that the father was abusive. Note: you never see abuse on the father's behalf. It's only implied... by the son.

I locked my parents out of the house once. I was 5, and they were in the yard. I didn’t know that. I thought I was home alone, and remembered all the ‘don’t let strangers in... they might even impersonate mom and dad’ talks. I was terrified, but thought I was doing right. Then my parents got a spare key from my aunt about 30 minutes later. I was yelling ‘no! Strangers lie to get in the house!’ I got grounded but also praised for remembering what I was taught, lol.

The differences are minimal and the terms are often used interchangeably. The most popular definition is that a psychopath falls at the end of the anti-social spectrum, while a sociopath is on the path of going there. Sociopaths can still feel some empathy and emotion, and are more capable in planning something instead of just acting out on impulse...In that regard, the kid is more of a sociopath than a psychopath since he elaborated this "great" plan to kill his father. Which could have failed in any moment, and should have...because people don't go around killing other people just because of a text message. The kid should have perpetrated the crime, not the grandad. Anyway, I digress.

WoW this was amazing. It does seem to be psychopathy overall because a kid doesn't usually plan a murder at that age because of (verbal abuse 1:08), the kid would tell someone(other family, teachers, police) or just clearly ignored. This kid warned the dad once, and got him murdered the next. To be smart enough at 8 yrs old to set up a homicide on Dad before any type of equally intellectual options, That's psycho!!!, but the sociopathy CLEARLY shows when the music stops at 4:08 to 4:14. The boy hasn't even noticed that he made his mom cry all over again(which was the reason he got him murdered in the first place) as he smiles while mom is now hurt!! Ignorance of Emotions

I like the way that this child thinks. His mother was unable to make an adult decision; which resulted in her child having to be the adult, for the both of them. Its unfortunate; that A LOT of adults / parents; place their child (ren) in that position. The majority of the time; its females who place their children into the position, of having to deal with, or clean up their mess
@unknownstranger6875 Жыл бұрын
I think the point of the short is that the kid is the sociopath, and is also manipulating the audience into believing that his dad is the sociopath. Couples have arguments all the time and make each other cry. It may not have been intentional of the dad to make her cry.

thats wrong , sociopaths are impulsive and hardly able to plan , more likely psychopathia
@shawnessler96485 жыл бұрын
Sociopaths are TYPICALLY more impulsive than psychopaths, but they are, by no means, unable to plan. The main difference between the two is that psychopaths are unable to have any bond with another, where sociopaths can. Sociopathy is usually considered simply a less severe form of psychopathy. The boy obviously has a bond with his mother, thus he would not qualify as a psychopath. Under the circumstances of the film, he would not have formed a bond with his father, which is why he feels no empathy nor remorse in plotting and causing the father's death. In reference to the film itself, Elliot bonds with his mother because she is the parent that let's him get away with stuff. The father does not, and his treatment of the mother has started to impact his relationship with his mother. Thus, without a moral compass or tie to his father comes the events of the film.
@luki0075 жыл бұрын
check out some statistics , most of the murders and other crimes comited by psychopats are planed. Sociopatia is impulsive , it is similar to BPD in this asspect. Cluster B personality disorders are in general similar to each other. You are right that psychopats are unable to make relations , but it is just yt , and not book about clinical psychology , not everything must be 100% accurate, they are also unable to feel for instance fear , just like here.
@shawnessler96485 жыл бұрын
Well, if you look at statistics, psychopaths are more likely to become serial killers. Sociopaths are more likely to become abusers. Thus, the statistics don't hold in your favor, since the little boy in the film is far more likely like become an abuser than a serial killer. And, being that it's "yt," meaning my turn, the difference between psycho- and sociopathy are nearly the same, outside of extremity. If the child was a psychopath, he would have killed the father himself, without remorse. But, by sheer definition, he cannot be a psychopath, since, as stated, he holds a bond to his mother. And, as the director of this film, I urge you to look at 2:21. There, you can see a brief moment of fear in the kid's eyes. His eyes flash to his mother for a frame or two. In that moment, he's not sure she'll side with him. The moment of fear is fleeting, but it is there.

A sociopath can't feel emotions, so it leads me to believe this was a classical Oedipus complex where the boy wanted his mum for himself, and that's what pushed him to "ambush" his father. Unfortunately, this doesn't explain how the grandad would slash his son-in-law just because of a couple of messages...unless he knew that the father was a violent maniac and was actually scared he would hurt his daughter and grandson. Regardless, a normal person would call the police and try to keep him there until they arrived. I think this would have been a much better film if the son had covered the garage floor in petrol and just lit it up as soon as his father went in to look for the key. Perhaps you couldn't burn down a garage, so I don't blame you for this. But the son should have perpetrated the crime!!! Overall, it's a well shot film...and you should keep making movies, no matter how bad they are. You only learn by making mistakes! :)
@Branstock3 жыл бұрын
"Sociopath can't feel emotions" LMAO. Most stupid affirmation ever. It's not they can't feel, they avoid empathy because they cannot handle emotional pain as other people do. Besides, they perceive relationships as some kind of game in which the more empathetic one is the one who loses.
