We've long-wondered what Sony's plans were with its dormant SOCOM franchise (or if it even had plans at all). After all, we can't just ignore the success the likes of Ubisoft have found with titles like Rainbow Six: Siege, and even in a post-Zipper Interactive world, it always felt like PlayStation's tactical shooter never really got a fair shake at success after its PS2 heyday. So color us both pleased and surprised when information from the resumé of a deceased actor pointed towards a SOCOM game that no one had ever even heard of: SOCOM 111. While it's fairly clear this project never got off the ground (or did it?), its existence gives us a fleeting glimpse into Sony's potential plans, and frankly, we can help but wonder if Zipper's defunct series may yet see the light of day in the future. I'm from Bristol (south UK) and I most definitely call them chips. I may call them fries in a pub in order to distinguish them from proper chips but that's the only time I call them fries.

I think dead space remake would have sold many more copies if it was sold at $50, like 500,000- millon units more. I think a $70 price tag for a 10 hour game is why many people skipped it

So via Micah, Colin technically owned Vampire Survivors on Switch but wouldn't play it because it wasn't on his sacred Playstation? I just don't know how anyone can convince someone this guy is not a Playstation fanboy. Just because he critiques the company does not mean he also does not exhibit fanboy like behavior. If Colin cared about soley playing games he is interested in. He would play them wherever they are available like many GAMERS do. However, Colin is obviously just a PLAYSTATION gamer. He feigns as if it has enhanced his understanding of the brand and industry just sillowing himself to the one console brand. Thankfully, David Jaffe calls the BS in that easily in their Sacred Symbols+ episode. Jaffe knows more about games AND playstation than probably anyone but also plays everywhere.

Exactly. There's preference for platform and then there's whatever Colin's justification is. When the Bethesda said was going on, he would say over and over it doesn't affect him because he wouldn't have played the games moving from PlayStation. So if he was interested, he wouldn't play them anymore simply because they weren't on PlayStation. Makes no sense.

Man SOCOM is one of those franchises that deserves more recognition for its contributions to the game industry in the early 2000s. Sony and Zipper genuinely had something special and fumbled it with SOCOM 4, even despite the PSN outage. These rumors of a new SOCOM are no doubt exciting, and whether or not it’s real at least the PS2 games are back up and running on private servers.

SOCOM was a game that you had to use teamwork with and use your mind, instead of mindlessly running around shooting people. It was a modern tactical shooter with amazing map design. Socom 1 and 2 MP maps were designed around one game mode like Demolition, Extraction, Escort and Breach making for very unique maps unlike any you'd ever see on a game like COD, for example.

Thank you for always covering SOCOM even though pretty much every hint of news over the past decade has turned out to be nothing. I played every SOCOM game and would absolutely love if the series came back in some form. SONY and Zipper had the formula for a great competitive shooter and the last few titles weren't really given a fair shot between all of the technical issues of Confrontation (that were eventually fixed, maybe too late) and the PSN outage of S4. Games like Call of Duty and Fortnite just don't compare at all and there is definitely a player base for a different kind of shooter. Rainbow Six Siege is the best tactical shooter out there and has been for a very long time now. A modern day Socom would look incredible on PS5 considering all of the various environments/maps the series always offered. A trailer with the classic SOCOM music with an actual US Navy Seal stealthily wading through water would hit so hard.

Rainbow Six Siege’s hasn’t been a tactical shooter since about a few months after the beta. Even the beta was better because it was swat vs terrorists. That’s how it should have stayed. It’s essentially a hero shooter now, just with very lethal gunplay. Insurgency Sandstorm is the closest you can currently get to SOCOM, just simply in first person. It has everything I could want out of a new SOCOM game. Fully authentic cosmetic customization that isn’t colorful, outstanding but simple weapons customization, perfectly functioning comms between your own team and the enemy. It’s amazing. Let’s hope the rumors that have been floating around for the past ten years are true.

R6 Siege is hardly a tactical shooter, it's far closer to Call of Duty than something like Insurgency Sandstorm, which is an actual tactical shooter and the best one out on consoles, alongside Hell Let Loose.

Ah, the early days of PS2 dlc. The Last Bastion dlc map was pretty cool for Socom 2. lol, I remember breach on Enowapi and all those gaming runs on Blood Lake and Desert Glory. Good times. At one time Socom was synonymous with the Sony name.

That’s a lot to unpack about SOCOM, Colin mistakes SOCOM Confrontation for SOCOM 4 (“SCON” was only multiplayer not SOCOM 4 it had a campaign) but he just out of the blue confirmed “SOCOM 5” was in development 🤯🤯🤯!!!!?!?! @-Ricosuave they were totally lost whether suicide squad had early access and if that caused issues for suicide squad... they literally spent tens of minutes talking about suicide squads when it launched and clowned on it for the early access blow up because for a full day put of 3 day early access people couldn't play it b2cause the servers were pulled from a glitch chasing people to unlock achievements and beat the game instantly. This is just one of several examples almost every episode nowadays.

There is already more content announced for Destiny 2 post-Final Shape in the form of episodes, which are basically the new 'seasons'. This is like the third time they've talked about if there will be more content after Final Shape and nobody ever brings this up. It's been known for months. They're selling them as part of the Final Shape deluxe edition.

My modem is in my closet upstairs housed inside a panel. I ripped out all the old wiring. I have a splitter and have two rooms hardwired. The WiFi router is seperate and is in the same room outside of the panel. Along with two extenders downstairs.

FWIW, that guys networking advice for Colin’s house is wayyy simpler than you guys think. I’d be SHOCKED if Dustin couldn’t figure it out in 5 min. That said, I’d fly to bumfuk Virginia to do it for Colin in a heartbeat. And why would I do that? As an excuse to get away from my gf for a day or two. (I’ve never had luck with Powerline adapters either. But mesh networks work for Wi-Fi if that’s what you wanted. But I’m guessing Wi-Fi isn’t what you want)

I have a vision for a DMC1 remake that plays similar to 5 with style switching etc applied to the original’s arsenal. The game opens with the player as Vergil in the underworld (like at the end of 3) fighting his way to Mundus, failing and Yamato being broken. Then we cut to Dante in the shop, when he accepts the job he chooses Force Edge over Rebellion (maybe because of a flashback to 3) and the events of the old game take place with changes like maybe Trish parts and no swimming sections. When you finish the story you unlock Nelo Angelo to play the whole game as (with obvious move set and other skins after that) with fights against Dante at the expected parts and new cutscenes to show what he was doing around the island at the same time as Dante’s story.

I sent a write-in to the episode before this one all about Ronin, but it didn't get read. 😔 It was basically about how good Ronin is, and how the player meta scores were higher than DD2, and if PS exclusives are judged harsher.

Huge dead space fan. But never bought the remake. Just came out at a weird time, RE4 stole a lot of the attention being much more of a bigger reinmagining, making it more of a newer experience. Also Dead Space remake was 70 dollars and I'm not spending 70 dollars on a remake of a game I already own.

I think Yuffie is one of the best characters in Remake & Rebirth. I never found her to be annoying I found her to be more so charming and likeable she's kind of a smart ass like cloud which I really like. I also like how energetic she is and I really love her combat system. Also Red 13 plays more like a Defense/Crowed control character he even has an ability that's works as an AOE. Also Aerith is really fun she basically turns into a god when u active Radiant Ward and she's ready good at keeping distance with her teleport.
