So I haven’t played SoD yet, just getting into it now, but I did shaman tank in classic all the way to 60, and have played TBC and Wotlk as enh. Why wouldn’t you pick fire nova rune over maelstrom? Doesn’t the damage from the spell produce threat? Or is the threat from spamming CL’s and the lightning shield rune just better most of the time? I feel like in a variety of situations aoe threat would be really useful (looking at you black rock mountain dungeons). I remember always wanting a Druid for thorns and popping oil of immolations /crystal charges so I could deal with hordes of spawns. Is the molten blast and LS just good enough for these purposes?

I dont get the 1 seconde CD on overcharged . does lightn shield has a CD? And what about Power surge and Burn together ? tanking with one hand wp with rockbitter doesnt do good with mael weapon

If you get hit by many mobs it hits every second If you only have 1 mob And its slow atks The u hit allways when Enemy hits

Never power surge. Horrible rune, bud. Just no. And burn is never going to be as good as Mental Dexterity so… just no. Lightning shield typically would only proc once every 2 seconds if something is beating on you. Now, that ICD is only 1 second. It’s a very overpowered rune and will likely get nerfed/changed here very soon. Additionally; in dungeons/add fights you’d run fire nova rune (which is bugged for rank 4 fire nova totem atm). But otherwise you just suck it up and use MSW. Power surge is never worth taking. Ever

@@Bman24641 I believe it's taken for the mana regen which is why all the guides are suggesting it now, and the lava burst procs are a nice threat/dps bonus.

Still worth to down rank FS to lvl 1 just for molten reset?

For AoE tanking i rather use Burn rune then mental dex. Then you have FS on 3 targets anyway

Couple things here, bud: Builds all wrong 😢 we don’t go that far into enhancement. We’re elemental tanks now 🤷🏼‍♂️ 21/20 is the tank build now. Spam rank 1 ES/FS to fish for clear casting procs and use em on higher ranks; and weave Lava Bursts in between boss hits on CD. After the huge nerfs coming into this phase, our main threat is all spells. Gotta lean into it. Also you mentioned we’d have shamanistic rage; but we’ll never have that except for swapping pants between pulls. Not really important in the raid 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you are not main tanking you still want to use the Enh Tank build so you can DPS when you are not needed.

@@billienomates7100 You can't* spec swap in the middle of a boss fight. I'm talking about in those situations running Enh Gear / Enh Hybrid SS Tank Spec is way more damage. You can run all Enh Runes + WOE on Legs and dual wield until you need to Taunt off then just Sword and Bored until youre done holding boss.... If it's out of combat I agree. You can Dual Spec and run whatever
