@@brandonkim76 What is righteousness in the Bible? Righteousness is being morally pure - without sin. What is Sin? Sin is breaking God's moral law - transgressing. 1 John 3:4. The Ten Commandments are a morality test that God will judge us. No one is good...Romans 3:10. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 ALL fall short, all have sinned. You see, the Bible says we separated from God, Isaiah 59:2, because of our sin. God requires moral perfection and all humans fall short. James 2:10 Even if we were good enough to keep all the Commandments, but break only one, we are guilty of all. Our sin nature comes from Adam. Romans 5:12. We inherit our rebellious nature from Adam. God is just, our payment for sin is death. Romans 6:23a, but God offers the free gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ.

People think that God is gonna go back on his word, and confuse us , God does not lie , he is the same today and tomorrow, people don't understand that when Jesus said repent of your sins,that means to stop sinning . , He said go and sin no more! Gay people don't really think that God is gonna condemne them, because they hear that God is a God of love. And because it is not one of the ten commandments. Like ,thou shalt not murder!, So people think that Jesus will forgive murderers ,that he will forgive homosexuals also! But since the preachers are not preaching that homosexuality is sin, the homosexual doesn't see it as wrong.. I've never heard a sermon about this when I was attending church. I had to read the Bible to find it out,when I found out about homosexual people. And that was when I was a adult. I never knew there was such a thing when I was a teenager, cause it was kept secret . God decided to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because they have rejected his Truth and even though they knew Him yet they did not accept him as Lord so he gave them up to their desires of the heart which is a slippery slope (Romans1). Ezekiel 16 talks of how they were affluent and proud. They also lived very secular life without fear of God Luke 17. Reminds me of current time.

I don't know how bad it was in Soddom but nowadays it's extremely difficult to not see an ad that doesn't have a man wearing makeup i.e. drag gay or trans acts. Especially in June and probably a second pride month. You can't go one day let alone one video without seeing one person from the alphabet community. I want to be clear that I don't hate them, I just get very very frustrated with the ads indirectly telling us to accept the acts of lgbts.
@scented-leafpelargonium3366
@scented-leafpelargonium3366 Жыл бұрын
ythatesfacts: I don't know why you connect ads of men wearing make-up and "drag queens"/"trans acts" to the story of Sodom. This is assumption at best and error at worst. The word for "men" in Hebrew is actually the male plural word for "people" or human beings, not exclusively "male-only" as the verse (Genesis 19:4) also includes the word "PEOPLE from every quarter" (of the city), so if it was a mixed sex crowd then they wanted a full-on voyeuristic orgy, which was why Lot offered his two daughters to the beying mob, as he could hardly offer females to a crowd of exclusively male homosexuals. Besides the destruction of Sodom was on the cards before this event actually happened, and if it was only because of this incident that destruction took place, then God owes an apology to Gomorrah who were not directly invloved at all! The word for "men" ("ANASHIM") is related to the Hebrew word "ANUSH" which means "human." The word "men" is used to describe mixed-sex situations in many instances throughout Scripture due to the "chauvinistic" nature of Hebrew grammar which uses male to describe both male AND female, such as with terms like "sons of God" which also includes "daughters of God." This is repeated in further examples throughout Scripture, such as with "men of Galilee" as the crowd were addressed by two angels on top of the Mount of Olives after Yeshua's ascension, and also Peter addresses the crowd in Jerusalem which included many pilgrims and their families from many nations gathered for the Jewish Feast of Weeks ("Shavuot") later called "Pentecost" by the Gentiles, when he used the phrase "men of Jerusalem." Was that Feast with ONLY MEN?! The second usage of the English word "PEOPLE" ("from every quarter") in Genesis 19:4 is the SINGULAR word for "PEOPLE" which is the small Hebrew word "AM," as in "AM ISRAEL" or the "PEOPLE OF ISRAEL," which further backs up the reality that this verse describes a MIXED CROWD of BOTH MEN & WOMEN, intent on sexually molesting Lot's two angelic visitors. It is only because of the male-oriented Hebrew grammar that causes so many readers to "jump to conclusions" that people see the word "men" and think it must be a 100% "gay crowd"! 🙃 There are probably more ads featuring "drag queens" today than there ever was in Sodom.

Yes, verse 50 is important. It references the abominations that are specifically detailed in Genesis 19. Can I please ask you a few questions, and this isn't to start an argument... but I really do wonder, are you essentially saying that it is 'sinful', 'wrong' and an 'abomination' for two people of the same, physical sex to fall in love with one another? If it's the act of sex that is the sin, is sex not more than mere lust and biological urge... is it not a 'making of love' between two souls, which have no gender? What do you also have to say about the science, as well as rich amount of evidence, to show the detrimental effects of repressing love and/or romantic desire. The Bible/Qur'an and many other holy texts of the major religions... all talk about the fact that we "Cannot live without love, and expect to know God," of course, love manifests in many different ways, but in the particular case of a 'homosexual' person, falling into romantic love, that homosexuality being something that they can't get rid of, only repress, (that being because of respect for their religion etc), how is it that their only options are... to live without/repressing romantic love, and face the torment and suffering that this brings, or... live in 'sin' and expect an afterlife in hell, seperate from God, who seeks to punish them? The certain sexual escapades of Sodom & Gomorrah, seem to be a form of unbridled sexual desire... in which the men, full of lust and desire for sex, took on eachother and dismissed their wives, sort of how sexaually isolated and/or hightened males will often turn to homosexual acts in order to satisfy their sexual desires, even if, in the first instance, it feels wrong to them, as they are, by default, in many cases, 'straight', and desire nothing but sexual pleasure from their same-sex counterparts, NOT loving, commited relationships... they learn to 'like it' because they crave the sexual gratification that it can bring, regardless of their 'innate preferences.' i.e- (The activities rampant in all-male-prisons etc.) Most modern holy texts don't specifically look at anything to do with the concept of actual 'sexual orientation', nothing has ever specifically spoken against, or been in favour of homosexuality, NOT as a result of unbridled sexual desire, but as an actual, innate preference... in other words, a sexual orientation, which is far from just 'which one of the two sex do you lust for, sexually', then there are people with no sexual desire at all, they often won't go on to have children either, for they don't desire sex with the opposite sex, and in fact, any sex at all... are these people also sinful, diseased and/or plagued by demons? For example... I can't find any specific scriptural references to whether I should, or I shouldn't be able to, say, walk out on the streets naked, in the Christian Bible at least... what does this mean, that it's wrong, right, or... it just simply doesn't matter enough to have even be contained within a holy text, regardless of the moral standard of modern day society, and what would actually happen to you if you were to do such a thing, (it's not supported by or unsupported by, say, The Bible), walking out on the streets naked isn't 'wrong', but, say, purposely going out to expose yourself to children, falls under a very much written sin, that is sexual abuse of/misconduct of a minor. Like homosexuality, it doesn't sound like something a truly homosexual person could rightfully be punished for, yet, someone who isn't truly homosexual, yet is lead unto homosexual acts by means of their unbridled lust itself, may very well face consequences, still, regardless of that, will probably self destruct anyway, just like a homosexually oriented person would, by... say, repressing/forsaking their innate, sexual/ROMANTIC preferences, and then, just lustfully taking whatever they can get their hands on, regardless of that. We also look into the main, major sins... all of these things being over arched by the reaccuring theme of pain, pain to another or pain unto yourself... engaging in a loving, committed homosexual relationship, hurts neither anyone outside of that relationship, nor... within it, if the argument is that it 'hurts one's soul', then what about the truth of spirit transcending physical sex/gender? Perhaps we are 'hurting nature', but didn't you know that their are 'opposing elements' to all things, that serve a purpose, and in the grand scheme of things, as long as in balance, keep everything moving in the way in which they're supposed to... OF COURSE not everyone could be 'homosexual', but is that not the same principle in which, not all 'animals' could be carnivorous? P.S- The closest that a real, healthy, homosexual relationship can get to 'harming' a person, would be in an outsiders inability to just, 'let the homosexual couple be', holding hate towards them. This is not something that we have been taught, by the Bible etc it/themselves, to dictate our lives upon, we must do what our own our personal journey with God, our life and our spirit have shown us is best for US, OUR SOULS AND OUR MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL FULFILMENT. Please, from a place of peace, love and light, in the name of The Father, The Son and of The Holy Spirit... I'd really love to hear your thoughts on all of this :)

Today people are criticized and called bigots for standing up for God’s truth, we are all sinners we can’t cast any rocks ourselves. We must pray for the conversion of sinners for everyone and others. Jesus has great mercy for those willing to turn from their wickedness and follow him, we must be imitators of Christ and put our faith, trust, hope in him and pick up our cross daily and follow him. From dust we were made and dust we shall return, but by the grace and mercy of Jesus may our souls forever live in his heavenly presence instead of the lake of fire which never ends.

Explain how their sins have separated them from God and what Christ did to repair that severed relationship. It would seem that if any given Christian would make it a point to tell an unbeliever that they hate the unbelievers sin... Would be going off track (a detour) if you will. It comes off as self serving. Our focus is on putting Christ front and center. Assuming that God's Holy Spirit convicts the unbeliever of their sin....they will feel the full weight of guilt then and there. No need to let them know that we hate their sin as it would be equal to kicking a man when he is down. Instead once the unbeliever is convicted of their sin.... immediately we are to placard Christ into the conversation as God's remedy. Really? If Genesis 19 is about homosexuality and it was so egregious that God had to destroy Sodom the. Why did He wait 800 years and let everyone on earth, the Jews, the Egyptians, the Canannites all do it for 800 when He came to Moses in Leviticus 18? Since Sodom was destroyed about 2300 bC and Moses lived about 1500 BC. Leviticus 18 tells us God told Moses to tell the children of Israel to stop these things. God acknowledges other nations but never gives them the list and never destroys Egypt. He acknowledges that up until that moment the children of Israel had been participating in all of the things so why wait 800 years and let them do these things but destroy Sodom in a day? Makes no sense

@@13kimosabi13 He kind of explained that in the video. Adulterers usually admit they're wrong. Thieves, murderers, liars, and even fornicators realize that their behavior is sinful. Yet, few admitted sinners fight as hard as homosexuals to convince the world that their behavior is acceptable to God. Yes, love the sinner, no matter the sin, and pray for them, as we pray for ourselves, to acknowledge our sin and ask for forgiveness. Years ago I sat around a table full of clergy at our weekly Bible study when this topic came up. Sure enough, it was only one of the younger clergy, educated at a liberal seminary (United Methodist) that tried to explain to the rest of us the 'real problem' at Sodom. It was not, he said, homosexuality itself...rather the fact that their approach to it was not contained within a committed, loving relationship." That's pretty much the position that has won favor in Western Civ today. Where that leaves us is having to decide whether or not that position finds favor with God. We conservative Christians don't buy it---liberal protestants do. Thus, the liberal protestants say to the secular culture that they are spot on and hang in there, and to the conservative Christians that we are bigots. And that's pretty much where things stand. I guess God himself is going to have to sort this one out. As most things are these days, this issue has become yet another battle in the seemingly endless culture wars...of which, I confess, after 50 plus years, I am tired...not to mention retired (which is short for really tired...of it all.) Big Gloss-Over at 1:29 mark. "available women that were offered to them that Lot offers" were Lot's DAUGHTERS! Intentional gloss-over obvious to anyone HALFWAY familiar with the scriptures. Without disputing that it would be "a sin" to rape strangers who come into town rather than offer hospitality, are we to believe that Lot's approach to his daughters, treating them as "property" to be offered to the worst men in the neighborhood for rape, is NOT a sin? Incredible. Mind-boggling. Sad.
@KamilZegarlicki
@KamilZegarlicki 6 ай бұрын
I read somewhere that Lot was a laughing stock to the Jews and if so it's obvious that his conscience was what it was. As it is written in Romans 3: “There is no one righteous, not even one". "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin". "But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood-to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished- he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." From this it's possible to conclude that people who had no chance to believe in Jesus but followed God's will were spared thanks to God's forbearance. Perhaps this also extends to those unbelievers who were not evil to the core, but have no chance to see God? Who knows? In case of a flood: Genesis 6:5: "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." Similarly in Sodom: Genesis 13:13 "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly." Most people sinned persistently in the Old Testament, and thus various misfortunes befell them. Lot certainly died, so he was punished, but it is not known whether he was also punished after that, just like his daughters for sleeping with him, because it's not written. On the other hand it is written in the book of Chronicles that God Himself destroyed the Moabites and Ammonites after they tried to invade Jehoshaphat kingdom. And his name in hebrew means "God judged".

@@MelindaSordinoIsLiterallyMe it is both wrong and unnatural. it may not be the case for every gay person but it is one of the possible aftermaths of trauma. it is also a result of people in society saying it's okay to feel this way when it isn't, and this motivates people to be proud of feeling a way that goes against our intent of creation. you're not a bad person having those desires, as all of us humans have feelings towards things that aren't necessarily good for us, but there is a necessary sacrifice needed from us as humans that allows us to surrender to God's will, and one of those sacrifices comes through the test of love. how different is it to someone who is inflicted by a terrible disease with no cure, a very poor financial situation for a single mother with a special needs child? each person is tested in a unique way by God and they will be judged accordingly by the way they respond to their test. the answer is to seek help from this test through God and a healthy support system (not one that permits wrongdoing).

I'm pretty sure he's "missing the point" on this one. This story in Gen. 19 has to be seen in contrast to the previous scene in Gen. 18. The way the men of Sodom wanted to treat the messengers in Gen. 19 (unrighteously) is in stark contrast to the way Abraham treated them then in Gen. 18 (righteously). In Scripture, righteousness is almost always equated with JUSTICE and unrighteousness is almost always equated with INJUSTICE. When prophets warned Israel of their "unrighteousness", they were saying God would judge Israel because of their unjust and violent ways. They would be exiled for not holding to the commands to treat their fellow human beings, especially "foreigners" and "immigrants" (i.e. visitors & messengers), with the dignity and hospitality that all human beings deserve. So when we contrast how Abraham respected and honored the messengers with how the men of Sodom disrespected and dishonored the messengers, we can clearly see that this story is not about homosexuality. As a matter of fact, the sexual language in these passages are hyperbolic to represent peoples' wickedness and idolatry that caused them to treat their fellow human beings, who were created in the image of God just as they were, with such cruelty! It takes more work to dig into the ancient historical and theological context of these stories, but doing so will help us see ALL or our fellow human beings, gay or straight, through the eyes of God. That is with a love that compels us to treat EVERYONE with dignity and respect!

I think you narrowed it down more than what Peter was saying. Although it certainly would have included homosexuality, Peter's words can simply refer to having no sexual boundaries and can refer simply to promiscuity. But after you factor in their refusal that day to take the women offered to them, and every man in the city refused the offer, then that would indeed narrow it down to your conclusion. And that may be how you arrived at your conclusion. But you did not say that.

They were raping & even castrating young boys. Most biblical scholars understand this context. The issue is further compounded by alterations made to bibles in English during the 40s, for reasons having to do with the cold war & the FBI using "homosexuality" as a weapon for blackmail. @@toddstevens9667 He offered them to a mixed sex crowd intent on molesting the angels in a lust-gorged voyeuristic orgy as the Hebrew male plural word often rendered into English as "men" is more correctly understood as "people" due to the chauvinistic grammar with "men" describing both sexes, as in "men of Galilee," "men of Jerusalem" and "sons of God" which all include females too. It even uses the word "PEOPLE" in the same verse (Genesis 19:4) where it says "PEOPLE from every quarter" (of the city). The "gay" assumption is due to male-oriented wording. Read the verse by putting the Hebrew "people" in place of the English translators' rendering of "men" and see how the complexion of the story changes, including why Lot as a very last resort would even offer his two daughters to them to protect the Angelic Messangers of YAHWEH. You are right that male homosexuals would most likely not be interested in being offered females, but this is not the case here or else it was just a hollow gesture. Rather it was more like the readiness to offer his only offspring up for the LORD's purposes just like the testing of Abraham in offering up Isaac ("Yitzhak") on Mount Moriah, where God stepped in and saved the situation just in the nick of time, just as He is now about to do for Lot, who is Isaac's cousin after all. In the end his daughters were spared, which is more than can be said for his backward-looking wife. The sins of Sodom were many, but in context, not excusively only male homosexuality, and even Jude ("Yehudah") only alludes to UNGODLINESS not homosexuality. Presumption about this story has caused many doctrines and wonky teachings to appear.

We need to pay attention to what the Lord Jesus says: If Sodom had witnessed the miracles that Jesus did in his time, they would have repented and believed: "And you Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will be cast down to hell. For if the signs done in you had been done in Sodom they would have remained to this day. But I tell you it will be more tolerable in the day of judgement for them than for you." This verse (Matthew 11:23) is important for several reasons. First it mentions Sodom. It clearly implies that they could have been forgiven and spared destruction, therefore "saved." And for theologians, it offers evidence of the Lord having what some have called "middle knowledge," that is omniscience with regard to what could have been and the potential outcome as it plays out into the future.

Please look at Ezekiel 16:49. The first (and most basic) sin of Sodom was pride shown in economic injustice: "abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy". Cross-reference with passages like Mt. 25:31-46 and Lk. 10:25-37 to gain perspective on the place of justice and expression of God's heart in order to place judgment of others in perspective. As people we naturally lean towards judgment, but God calls us to mercy and expression of His love.

How do you know that Pride was the first and most basic sin of Sodom? It’s mentioned first in the list, but that doesn’t mean that it was the most basic sin. It’s just the first listed. The sexual sins that were recounted in Genesis 19 are mentioned last (abominations), but that does not mean that it was the least important. It might just mean that it was the most familiar to the Jewish audience from the Genesis narrative, and thus mentioned last. Also, since Ezekiel is drawing comparisons between Jerusalem and Sodom, maybe the list goes from the most prevalent common characteristics of the two cities, to the least common characteristics shared by them. Who knows? But I don’t think the point is for the reader to ignore the Genesis narrative and just focus on Pride and economic injustice. It’s adding to our knowledge of Sodom, not replacing the earlier narrative.

@@toddstevens9667 Thanks for your thoughtful and thought provoking reply. When I first posted, I was simply reading the text as it presented itself. Primacy and repetition are important aspects of interpreting any bit of written or spoken language. Pride is mentioned first and then also repeated in the next phrase "they were haughty (prideful) and committed abominations". These statements come very clearly in explanation of the opening statement, "This was the guilt of your sister Sodom". Everyone familiar with the story of Genesis 19 that you reference (including Ezekiel's listeners) would expect the explanation to be: Homosexual immorality. That is why this passage is so significant. It goes against expectation and is given for our greater understanding both of the nature of Sodom's sin and of the nature of God's heart. It does not say that the sexual immorality was not present or was not part of the picture in God's eyes, but it fills out the picture in ways that are particularly difficult for people who have abundance to receive. In fact, that is what motivated me to make the original post. Everyone will jump on the issue of homosexuality or other sexual "abominations" -- either for or against. But there are other sins that are much more universal and present in our lives that were at least part of God's displeasure with this city. This is the social and economic justice that is part of His Kingdom that His people are to express. The absence of this kind of justice in Sodom was so displeasing to God that He brings it up here through the prophet. This passage clearly says this and yet few connect these dots -- most do not see the importance of justice to God's heart. Note that you automatically presume that "abominations" is talking about sexual sin when there are no indications in this passage to indicate that interpretation rather than the obvious connection of abominations to lack of regard for the poor and needy. This is incredibly important as we consider the responsibilities that we have as believers to those around us who have such incredible need while so many of us have so much. Will we be like the Priest and Levite or like the Samaritan when we see need? We don't have to look far to find our chance to join with God's heart to share with and love those in need.

Ezekiel makes mention of the pride in themselves that Sodom and Gomorrah had (I don't remember the precise verse, sorry). That pride can show itself in so many ways, whether in sexual sin, or theft, or drunkenness, or whatever. It can look different for each person or society. In the case of S&G, their pride in themselves, thinking they could be god and define right and wrong for themselves, came out in the form of sexual immorality of all kinds. That could have been the breaking point for God, who decided that these men could no longer be allowed to live so they could sin greatly against Him. All sin has its basis in pride, which is why Chesterton says pride is the worst sin there is. We must not mince words or beat around the bush when it comes to pride in ourselves, that we think we can make our own rules. The men of S&G thought they could do anything they wish, which expressed itself in this case in the pursuit of strange flesh and gross immorality. We should never apologize for what God says is right and wrong; if people are offended by this, that's not our problem, it's theirs.

“’Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.” Ezekiel 16:49 There is no need to look and judge the scripture actually says what the problem is …based on the text of Ezekiel homosexuality is the fruit but NOT the root. The root is more likely wealth and pride as the scripture describes as apathy and fullness of bread. Notice that homosexuality flourishes under the these conditions. Homosexuals tend to be wealthier than the average citizen and also tend to live in the most expensive zip codes. Yet, man was never cured of wickedness, violence and "corruption of flesh" (whatever that means). I actually disagree with the claim at 3:24 that there was "no indication whatsoever that the men of the city or even Lot knew that the men that were visiting were angles" The text does not agree with this. Genesis 19:1 calls them angels (chapter 18 calls them men and Abraham bows to them and calls them YAHWEH) and Lot bows to them and calls them his "lord". Point 2 ties these together Genesis 19:12-14 "12 The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here-sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, 13 *because we are going to destroy this place*. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that *he has sent us to destroy it.*” 14 So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry[a] his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because *the Lord is about to destroy the city!*” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking." These two men/angels who came to Lot and said twice it is they who will destroy the city. Lot them immediately turns around and says the being who will destroy the city is YAHWEH. The men of Sodom didn't try to have sex with angels, they tried to have sex with God.

Yes, the cities' sin was homosexuality. Attempts to claim "inhospitality" as the reason, however, stem not from the men's behavior at Lot's door, but from the visitors' being left alone in the square. But, even at that, there was no inhospitality, since Lot showed them hospitality.

I wrote a piece on this some years ago and was very surprised to learn what I did when I was studying the bible on it. Today, I can say with CERTAINTY that the sin of homosexuality was only ONE of the MANY things that God destroyed the city of Sodom for and not just for that. Interestingly enough, when God himself was berating the city of Jerusalem for its evil ways (Ezekiel 16) he stated that Sodom her sister had not done (as bad) as Jerusalem had done; that Jerusalem had done more abominations than Sodom and that she (Sodom) was more righteous than Jerusalem (verses 48, 52). Even more interesting to note is that when God recounted the sins of Sodom and the reasons why he destroyed it their abominations were listed LAST (verses 49, 50). It should interest us as well to note that Abraham did not ask God to spare the city of Sodom if he found ten HOLY people there but RIGHTEOUS. Many people confuse these two words believing they are one and the same but that is not the case. The people of Sodom for the most part were unholy and unrighteous to the point where there un-holiness and un-righteousness were overbearing to God and brought upon them his destruction.

This is such a silly position to take. It's reductionist for starters, but it's also doesn't even bring in what the rest of the bible says about the "Sin of Sodom". You are inferring it had to do with homosexuality, but in Ezekiel we get the answer: "This was the guilt of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters had pride, excess of food, a prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty, and did abominable things before me; therefore I removed them when I saw it." (Ezek 16: 49-50). The people of Sodom were engaged in rape and orgies long before the angels arrived. There is also a similar sounding story of a man and his concubine (Judges 19) who travel to Sodom and the men of the city demand that he be given to them to be raped, but instead he offers his concubine and SHE is raped and killed instead. The Sin of Sodom wasn't homosexuality, it was the horrible lifestyle full of pride, greed, and gang rape and orgies that condemned them. The gender of the two angels has nothing to do with it and it's a reductionist argument to say it was ALL because of homosexuality This article breaks down the reasons why the destruction of Sodom has nothing to do with homosexuality. www.bibleandhomosexuality.org/what-has-sodom-got-to-do-with-homosexuality/

The word ( sodomy) comes from Sodom, so it stands to reason. Homosexuality has much to do with it. if Homosexuality were not wrong the Bible would not condemn it as it does at 1 Corinthians 6:9 along with other things that will prevent persons from entering the kingdom of God are those who practice homosexuality as well as men who are kept for unnatural purposes. Discernment and condemnation are two different kinds of judgment. None of us have the right to condemn another person because we are all guilty sinners in need of salvation. Only Jesus can save us. Discernment and conviction are different. This is the ability to see between right and wrong. Sin is always destructive, and it is absolutely the loving thing to do to warn people that sin leads to death and hell. Thank God there is forgiveness in Christ! He gives us the strength to repent and turn away from our sins. I tried for a long time when I was younger to justify my sins. I was in the LGBT community and did not want to realize how much sin was destroying my life. I am grateful for the conviction the Holy Spirit placed on my heart and the loving ways Christians told me the truth in love. There is real healing, love, joy, peace, and freedom when we stop fighting and rebelling against the LORD. I needed to give up my sins and idols in order to heal from the darkness. Let's definitely pray for people. Also we can do the loving thing of sharing uncompromised truth. It's never about being better than anyone. It should never be done in hypocrisy. Righteous judgment in a discerning and warning way can be what saves a soul from death. Truth is difficult to face and quite offensive at first, but it is freedom from the bondage of sin. The selfless, sacrificial, unfailing agape love of Jesus Christ is far superior to the lusts of this world. People who truly are looking for love will only find perfect love in Jesus, not sin or idols.

If it's about homosexuality, why did Lot offer them his daughters? Why did they not say they were not interested in women?

Being Homosexual in itself is not a sin but acting on it is.There are many Christian homosexuals who lead chaste lives and except Sodomy as a rebellion against Gods law. Because of our fallen natures we are all prone to sin but we are to fight against sin.As Christians we are bound to try and correct sinners in order to save their Souls.Not an easy task in these immoral times.

True, temptation is not itself a sin. I don't make my temptations my identity though. There's a really interesting conversation on KZfaq between Becket Cook, Christopher Yuan, and Rosaria Butterfield about this. Thank God we have the Holy Spirit and God's Word! I don't identify as an orientation anymore or wish to use the world's labels. I find comfort that my identity is in Christ and that I just want to live my life within His will, whether or not I ever marry a man or if I'm called to lifelong singleness. Life isn't easy, but I'm grateful we have the Holy Spirit as our Comforter who leads us in sanctification until we go to be with the Lord. The world can be a very heavy, broken, and lonely place, but never feel like you are alone in the struggle. God bless you always!

Christianity never gave any quarter, decency, nor consideration for people with quirky personality types who just desire to touch other people more than anything else in the world. This is what I can point to as being the great, intolerable contradictory mistake the church made in regards to how society viewed moral precedence. And people did indeed on numerous occasions use the lessons from Christianity as a lens to view vices. Being kinky in any way was just thrown in there with all those vices then placated to names of these two cities sodom and gommorah. For the millennia, the church and its influenced institutions conspired against civil and criminal law to suppress this instinct it saw in some people, going as far as to teach the lesson to everybody at a young age in order to showcase the dangerous effects of vice on a place of living. It carelessly put and placed blame on quirky personality types based entirely on this lesson of sodom and gommarah alone. And i can tolerate vice in general. I can tolerate all the moral lessons on them. I hate alcohol and gambling i think they are damning to a person. It was millennia old lessons like THIS one THIS ONE RIGHT HERE, the lesson of fucking sodom and gommorah, that molded the systemic hatred and careless disregard in quirky personality type-people, from all walks of life, from political leaders down to inaudible proles for thousands of years. In direct accordance with the Old Testaments beliefs on Intergenerational justice, Ezekiel 18:20 “The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself." Similarly, The way people view organizations is upon themselves, and the righteousness of their collective actions are self evident through stories and narratives. Faithfully, I will not inherit the distasteful and degenerate sins of a forcefully assimilating and cruelly illegal practice, nor will I indulge their pathetic attempts at seeking positive public opinion through pride flags. Any free thinking and positive minded Catholics would 100% want any remnants of these two cities dismantled and forgotten. Personal, I’d like to destroy that remnants of the city myself and erase it completely from the course of history. It really would satisfy some sick symbolic desire to state through actions alone how most GenZ would fundamentally how I feel about Sodom and Gommorah when given ALL the information on it, not just the biblical perspective. I reaaaaally really understand how symbolism works. I understand it very very well. God does not tolerate the filth of this earth that call themselves sodomites.

Being kinky ain't a sin as long it's in marriage and I've run across Christians who act as though being weird and goofy is a bad sin but in reality it's just a person with a fun personality

Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. Genesis 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 18:21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. With the specific note that young and old came to surround Lot's house. Even the youth were utterly corrupted. And Lot's will or that of the angles was never even considered by the wicked men. So not only is the main sin sodomy which wicked enough it was also that it was rampant and forced upon people against their will and then logically upon children also who had not been spared by them (young and old). What else does the cry of the city mean having come up to God and as Lot only escaped one has to think there had to be children that died in the judgement. Perhaps they had been so misused and corrupted that straight going to heaven was the most merciful for them (if they fell under the age of no accountability). Also every single man was a sodomite except for Lot. Genesis 19:4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: It is actually quite horrendous to think about.

Yes it is a sin. Of course as in all sins there are degrees of severity and forcing oneself on others is far worse. However it is a sin as God clearly states. But as with all other sins it can be forgiven and we christians should hate the sin but love the sinner thus being harsh and mean to such people is not our calling. Under Old Testament law like for witchcraft there is capital punishment on the sin but this counts for a state Israel while we are merely a spiritual body and also Israelites fell under capital punishment for such sins because, unlike the heathen, they had willingly entered into a holy covenant with God. But if people ask us if it is morally wrong to practise sodomy the answer is a definite yes. Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

So, did miss something? Ezekiel 16:49 actually begins...."Now THIS was the sin of your sister Sodom..." And the chief sin was the wealthy ignoring the poor and needy. Which, Gee Whiz, ties right in with what Christ mandates in Matthew 25:32-46. Really great biblical scholar there.
