What happened?

@@fisterB 1996/7 there was a huge economic and financial crisis and a near-default. The government changed and initial recovery came quickly, but the country had to catch up with some painful economic reforms, which eventually gave rise to a normal functioning economy. In 2005/6 nothing really happened, except for a new mayor in Sofia (he was later prime minister for some 11 years). The city has been managed like shit by his hand-picked replacement for even longer now.

My problems with Sofia when I visited in 2022: - stray dogs, and worse than that, owned dogs not on a leash (I was nearly attacked by an owned dog) - random holes in the pavement, esp. in certain areas. The many broken tiles in Sofia makes the place look like there has been a huge earthquake. On the other hand, in Tokyo, Japan it's hard to find any broken tiles, even though they have more earthquakes. Perhaps using tiles was a bad idea to begin with? I see the same here in Plovdiv. I don't mind it really, but it's rather striking to first-time visitors. Both problems are relatively absent here in Plovdiv, where I'm now living. I will consider moving to Sofia in the fiuture, but I will select neighborhood very carefully. I once walked right through Fakulteta without knowing where I was. That was an interesting ones! Stray dogs chased me a few times. Other than this, I think Sofia is a more pleasant city than e.g. Oslo, Norway (constant stabbings and shootings because of die-versity). I feel safer overall in Sofia, esp. in the nicest areas.

Братле , това не беше недостроената детска болница , а ИПК родина във финален етап . Прозорците и крановете си стояха по местата някъде до след 2013-та. След което ги демонтираха постепенно , оглозгаха всичко от вътре (асансьори, каси на врати , тухли) и накрая както сам написа взривиха ендата сграда , а другата я глозгаха месец или два .... Виж в канала ми имам нощни кадри от вътре (с един приятел се вмъкнахме през 2011 година , докато все още я имаше) Колкото до недовършената детска болница, тя още си стори на груб строеж в двора на медицинска академия барабар с още една недовършена сграда, намираща се от ляво на главният вход . Абе с две думи пълна скръб е след 1989-та

Wrong, it had started in 1944 already and was more or less finalized by 1987. They just opened a new phase with the "Multigroup" government that came in late 1992.
