5:20 is not exactly true. She knew the original deal of splitting $500k AND getting rights to call her daddy after a year. She chose to ask for more. If she had taken the original deal she along with Alex would own the rights to Call Her Daddy and they both could have accepted bigger offers, but she chose to be difficult and listening to her ex boyfriend and lost out on millions. She should have signed the deal and then played the long game like Alex and they could be splitting 60 million or possibly more since it was two of them, but she got too greedy and was just dumb…

In this scenario the “boss” offered pretty much the best deal you could ever hope to get. Dave had no reason to offer 100% of the IP and to a offer of a raise with 100% of the IP in 1 year was a crazy deal to walk away from. Also the idea that it’s acceptable to sign a contract and then after getting the security of that contract, decide actually this isn’t in my favor anymore so I’m going to try to force you to let me out of the contract is crazy to me. And the fact that Dave did renegotiate in the middle of the contract where as I said he offered to shorten the contract, give you a raise, and let you leave with 100% of the IP makes him a good person acknowledging your value. It makes Alex smart for being able to see the bigger picture that it was an amazing offer to be able to capitalize on it in the long run. And if makes Sofia incompetent at worst and short sided at best.

The narrative is that way because that's exactly what happened. Your boyfriend got in your ear and tried to get you a deal with his friend while you were still under contract.

I mean I could be wrong but wasn't it essentially Sofia's boyfriend was looking into other deals but they would lose the name of the show, Alex said sh thought they should push to keep the name, Sofia said who cares we can make a lot of money who care's about the name. So Alex went and kept the name and now has the name recognition and huge following, and Sofia has to pretend it was a partnership when Alex edited a 2 hour record into an 1 hour episode each week, and still get 50/50. I've still never seen her adress that or even the talks with the company about wanting the to continue to help get add revenue to pay employees or that he was willing to increase the money they made, with out having to do any other work for the company,

She was insignificant then and she’s insignificant now. She didn’t deserve Alex’s friendship, because say what you will, but friends don’t throw friends/ex-friends don’t do this to each other. Dave made it clear that it was always about Alex, and Sofia was always along for the ride. That deal was ludicrous and Sofia got greedy… and look at how high Alex flies now that Sofia isn’t dragging her down.

Feel bad for what happened to her. She had professionals in the industry backing her, and were taking control of the deal with barstool (intelligent move). Portnoy took Alex aside, away from the professionals, scared her into thinking he would shelf the podcast out of spite, it was a bluff because no way Portnoy would throw away 10s of millions of dollars out of spite. Alex couldnt see that though, she freaked out and destroyed her best friend/partner out of panic
