Anyone that has learn a second language and has lived in a country that speaks it can understand the struggles that she is trying to describe. I think this is why the person in the audience asked the question. I think she admires the fact that she has been able to get this far with her accent and she wonders if she ever actually try to change it (as we all do when we r trying to assimilate)which we now know it would have been a mistake to do so. Really feel like this shouldn’t have been a funny clip because she is truly trying to describe a very real struggle. Btw ur tongue actually curls according to the language your mostly speak, so speaking a language as an adult and doing so without an accent is quite challenging.

@@emmanuel7489 not everytime though. Even in this clip, she looked uncomfortable at first, then she decided to go along with it bc what was she gonna do anyway? Create a ruckus and be called crazy? @SLOBeachboy5 жыл бұрын
End Is Near Y'all - - It’s not “sexualizing”, it’s called having a sense of humor - something which you are obviously seriously in need of. Speaking of which, I’m guessing that you don’t care for their show Modern Family either, since the writers are constantly using awkward and unwitting double entendres or comically poor word choices in the show for humor - probably more than in any other current American TV show. And although they have written these types of lines for Phil, Claire, Gloria, and other cast members, most of these types of lines by far are written for Cam. For example, when Cam was putting on the school play and he talked about how he “Sondheimized” the kids (sounds like sodomized) and his mortified partner, Mitch, had to point out that he should probably word that in a different way. Anyway these types of situations are always hilarious on the show. Although, being an uptight prude yourself I would imagine that you do not find these sorts of things funny at all. By the way, Sohpia probably has a better sense of humor than anyone in the cast and she is often making fun of these same types of things. In fact, as a gag in interviews she often purposely throws things out there knowing that they will be taking to mean something else (often something of a sexual nature). She is after all a real pro at this type of comedy (even though in this particular case it was not on purpose and she did not pick up on it right away). And she is certainly no goody-two-shoes. In fact, when on the Jimmy Kimmel Show she read a “mean tweet” which said that she “talks like she has a dick in her mouth” to which she replied “what’s wrong with having a dick in my mouth”.

She wouldn’t be funny without her accent. That’s her hook 😘
@jasminebaez76784 жыл бұрын
So if she isn't funny without her accent...doesn't that mean your just laughing at her accent. And if thats what makes you laugh, would you really be a person capable of judging humor. Asking for a friend.

Wow now i feel so coffident, if i dont try to change my accent at all people will not take me serious! So cool

I disagree, it adds to it but she's funny without it. I've heard her speak without emphasizing the accent, like she usually does. She exaggerates it when she wants.

Sofia doesnt need to change her accent. I wonder if you ask someone to change their brit accent ? I found this question offensive. Sofia is perfect the way she is and makes more money than other actors in tv in 2017

Janina Lee Del Rio many British actors *have* to change their accent to get roles in the USA
@dania23696 жыл бұрын
Janina Lee Del Rio brit speak english , so the Brit accent is the Real thing but when your native language is not english , you should try to pronounce the english words in the right way , (improve your accent ) to sound close to any english speaker ( american , Brit , australian ..) exemple : indian people Say greet instead of great , they should try to work on that , that's wrong pronounciation .

Actually many brits ave to change there accents in many shows and movies to play a character. Then you actually hear them talk and you are like damn I had no idea they where not from the US

It's not meant to be rude, she's not saying she *needs to* fix her accent? She asked if she ever thought about fixing her accent. It's like asking, "Have you ever thought about getting a tattoo?" It's not saying she should, it's strictly asking if she ever thought like maybe she wanted to. And if Sofia wanted to fix her accent because she finds it annoying, that's her choice too, and it's not wrong either. I'm not saying that her accent is wrong, I'm just saying that it's all up to her. The person was just asking if Sofia ever thought to.

SOPHIA rocks-she is original, funny, absolutely beautiful and made a place for herself in the industry. When you have it, you have it. Some people blame it on their accent, race, etc. Look at Selma Hayek, Sofia Vergara, Arnold Schwarzenegger who turned the accent disadvantage into an advantage.

Sofía has a delicious Latino accent but she has learnt that to be clearly understood in English the consonants are much more important than in Spanish. As a result in spite of her accent she is very easy to understand. She is very smart.
