Hello, I’m from Russia! The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. This performance has affected me in a way that nothing ever has. Over 150+ viewings later and I'm still trying to wrap my emotions and head around it. This was the richest musical experience I have ever had. I have a "no stopping rule " on the video at first watch out of respect for the artist. It (and any sense of decorum) was gone with the wind for this one... blown away by a TORNADO named Dimash. I threw my phone (not once, but twice).... swore (more than twice).... stop, pause, rewind... over and over. It was borderline violent. About halfway through, any feelings of guilt I had over the no stopping rule were completely GONE. ❤ Technically, he set a new recorded low at C2 (first video stop 😂)... so his range is now over 6 octaves. The previous recorded low was F2. 3 full steps down... that's a big drop all at once. You can tell he's been working hard. Those low notes just keep getting richer. That EPIC slide up into the 22 second belt phrase is just UNREAL. I also think 22s is a new record as well. The longest I've heard previously is 19s. And that top note in that belt is soooo clear and bright. The high notes are improving, too. OH.... and that THING he does with his voice.... I still don't know what to call it??? And those dark rich strings with that breathy falsetto is just #$%# PERFECT ❤ This song is one of the sexiest songs I've ever heard. He takes those embers at the beginning and just keeps fanning those flames until the wildfire EXPLODES. In my musical interpretation of the song, I've dubbed the THING he does with his voice the "primal call" haha. ❤ As someone who is old enough to be his mother, a part of me feels like the baby bird has left the nest. That was not the 22-year old "kid" singing on the stage at Singer. That was a fully grown confident man. Watching him grow and mature, both professionally and personally is a thing of beauty. ❤ The shocking revelation through all of this is the realization of how "in tune " I am with him and his music. Sofie, Dimash speaks Russian very fluently so it is not surprising that he sings Russian song. You sound startled when you said " he sings Russian". . I believe you speak the same language?
