I'm not sure about this specific factory, but speaking from experience some of us who design, cut, screen print, or create anything understand that there are some things that you cannot do comfortably sitting down and you need to stand......I am one of those people! I can't cut fabric sitting down, I have to stand.... But hey, these people sadly need work and low income factories provide their means of living, there is no choice. There are many of us that have had experiences where we were treated unfairly at work, and it still exists today. Unfortunately, despite government debates about fair wages, better conditions, equal pay, being paid the minimum wage (which IMO is well under what people actually need) we are still living in the dark ages! Business is about profit, nothing else
@ryanbarker5217
@ryanbarker5217 Жыл бұрын
@@chriscaine7689 granted, some jobs you can't do sitting down. it's factory work, what do people expect? i swear, some people need to spend a summer doing landscaping or roofing and learn what real work is. want better wages at work? get rid of the minimum wage. all a MW does is create a poverty level. if you raised it to $100/hr. then that's what the new poverty level would look like once markets adjusted. all you would accomplish is destroying your economy and the life savings of people who did real work all their lives.

Amazing how so much work went into making these McDonald happy meal toy. The toys look like good quality ones in this factory, yet the ones we usually get in the actual meal seem more cheap and crappy. I think all these works should get a raise for all this tidiest work. My mom use to work in a clothing factory as a seemstress for over 18 years and the conditions were worst than this factory but she did get pay well.

The sad truth is that they get paid very little but it is enough to buy/rent a house in China. This is also the reason why companies and even people online, outsource merchandise to China or Taiwan, because of how little pay the workers get. It's that easy to hire a manufacturer if you have the requirements.

Oh boy, you have no idea how things work. As a plush artist, I’m almost offended actually. It is not any different to do it at home. And the patterns are not cut for you, let me tell you that. Also, not everyone can afford an embroidery machine. So I sit here for a whole day or maybe days or weeks, trying to first figure out a pattern, then trace it, cut it and prepare eyes or anything I have to satin stitch on. Then actually do that and sew it all together, getting frustrated at times and stuff the things by hand, hurting my wrist in the process. Then I have to close it shut and mostly add details with the ladder stitch, poking myself with the needle quite often, to be honest. Also, you end up with dry skin on your fingers and sometimes it bursts open and you need to either use a bunch of lotion, or you need band aids. It is fun to sew, don’t get me wrong, but it is a lot of work, so don’t you say we do any less of it!
@ThatMimiThing
@ThatMimiThing 5 жыл бұрын
I forgot to mention that we also sew things by hand a lot, especially those who don’t own a sewing machine.

Cutey Peridot I know I’m an eon late, but the struggles like this were also formerly mine as well, until I utilized the resources around me. For example, my library has a program where they can rent out sewing machines, and my local sewing shop is able to help me with embroidering my files for a few bucks. I don’t know if this is how it is everywhere, but if you look hard enough, you can save up for a sewing machine. I got my current one for $50 at an online auction, and no longer had to return every two weeks and wait 3 days for “cool down” or a spot in line. Still have to pay for embroidery though... and the way you put making patterns, I took 2 weeks to make a miniature scale from start to finish of a plush, so relatable. I have been meaning to post, but school is starting back up again, and the pressure is on /.w.\ anyways, plush art is hard, but I hope you were able to grow from the time of this comment! Edit: I still have a cursed umbreon in my closet when I tried to hand satin stitch, lol.
@silentprayers728
@silentprayers728 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThatMimiThing designing patterns is the most difficult, machine embroidery is also difficult because you have to make the embroidery file and decide what stitches to use. The physical sewing isn't hard at all but it's extremely time consuming.

From Wikipedia about Sweatshop! Sweatshop (or sweat factory) is a pejorative term for a workplace that has poor, socially unacceptable working conditions. The work may be difficult, dangerous, climatically challenged or underpaid. Workers in sweatshops may work long hours with low pay, regardless of laws mandating overtime pay or a minimum wage; child labor laws may also be violated. According to the Fair Labor Association, at least 18 countries are operating sweatshops, including Bangladesh, Costa Rica, El Salvador, China, the Dominican Republic, India, Vietnam, Honduras, Indonesia, Armenia, Brazil, Haiti, Taiwan, the Ivory Coast, Nicaragua, Mexico, the United States and its territories.
