Hi Guys, working on some collisions on Hard Driving, here are some tests for the damage models. Windows on the car smash and crack, and the bumpers / wing mirrors also can be broken off. The whole cars body can be dented and distorted. The driving also gets affected by the car becoming distorted.

I think you should make it so that the hood lights trunk and doors can also be destroyed/broken from the car it will be nice if you add a 3D engine to the cars that way it won't look very flat which decreases the realisticness so these are my improvements for you to add please make it like what I asked for

are you still developing this? id REALLY like to see a soft boy vehicle sim where you can build vehicles like in simpleplanes or juno:NO/simplerockets 2 but also crash them realistically without just blowing up or nothing happening like in scrap mechanic, closest to that ive seen is space engineers, would also solve the problem of the developer (you) having to make super super detailed rigs to be crashed but would likely introduce some optimization issues, if you can you should totally look those games up and maybe get some inspiration because there are still some new ideas that have yet to be exploited and i just dont even know where to start when it comes to making a game so heres my idea for free!

Because it is not finished. This was developed initially for a client for another game, the demo on here was built as part of that project. I am work on another game at the moment but will come back to this.

That's not Soft body Physics. Its mesh deformation

If the colliders deform, which they do, its soft body.

@@cebcodegames soft body, as it states, are soft, which requires real-time, spontaneous calculation. mesh deformation is NOT softbody. Cool damage models though

I don't think you what Soft Body Physics is, it is when a Rigidbody can be deformed by the simulation and continue to simulate based on the new state, exactly what is shown in the video. Secondly the core physics are powered by Physx, pretty much the industry standard for all computer games, so if they suck... so does every computer games physics. Anyway I appreciate the comment, even if it was neither constructive or polite.

@@GreenX_real It's soft body because the colliders change shape to match the shape of the deformed vehicle... the very definition of soft body. But I do appreciate how you think you can tell just by looking at it that it not soft body, but rest assured it is. Tell me, how long have you been programming in the game industry?

@@GreenX_real Actually mesh deformation is when a mesh is deformed, soft body is when a collider is deformed. It's called Soft body because most colliders are Rigid bodies (there collider maintains it's shape after impact and is therefore Rigid) vs Soft where the colliders distort as in the demo. Appreciate your expertise on the matter though!

If you think rolling a car like that would turn it into a pancake or make the car get destroyed in some way, you've never seen a car crash in real life, they have engine blocks for a start and on top of that, it's a racing car so it also has a roll cage. If I remove the physics calculations for the engine and roll cage, then yes it can pancake, but in it's current realistic form the best you can hope for is smashing it to the size of a cube.
