In November 2021, Jason of @Primal Outdoors - Camping and Overlanding and I headed out for a new weeklong adventure in eastern Oregon, picking up where we left off last year. Our goal: extend the Bend-Alvord route through some of the most remote and spectacular backcountry Oregon has to offer. We set off on this exploratory scouting trip to check whether our tentatively planned route would actually go through, make adjustments as needed, and see what points of interest we could discover along the way.
This is Part 3 of the series. We veer from our originally planned route and discover an incredible oasis lost in the high desert, teeming with life. But paradise comes with a price...and predators.
