How this popped up on my feed, I'll never know. I recently lost (what I consider a mentor, was really one of my grandfather's best friends from church that we went camping with every single summer for like 20 years) a Vietnam veteran friend. Purple heart, did 3 tours... was the most interesting person especially being camping when your 8 (that was the first year I went). He taught me how to count my steps when climbing a 3800ft mountain to track distance and build fires. Simple dumb stuff, but all things I carry with me to this day. R.I.P. don

You did a disservice by calling his lessons ’dumb’ I’m sure he didn’t share his knowledge with you because he felt it was dumb stuff.

@@babyyoda4182 my choice of words in no way effects the gravity of those lessons learned. He was passing down knowledge to a younger generation and despite what you may think, concentrating on one word of something I could write a book about doesn't belittle the fact that that he was a dear friend and all these years later I still think about them. Yes, my 8 year old self thought they were dumb... but I was young and foolish. I can't go back in time but I can honor him every day by trying to do the same. You can say whatever you'd like, it's your right- one he fought and almost died for. In retrospect it might not have been worded right for the me of today, but when I wrote it, I was doing so as that little 8 year old that didn't know how good I had it

@@nickw7619 Salute to you my friend, upon reading, I honor the lessons learned as well as the sacrifice in order to prevail from them. No offense taken; I was only opposed by your choice of words given, in lack of insight. Apologies, Keep on keepin' on my fellow American.

@@babyyoda4182 no apology necessary, the ability to have a conversation with someone that seems of upstanding character is a joy not lightly taken and one that does not come around often online. Everything happens for a reason, and that comment was the spark that started it. Thank you for the kind words. As a fellow American I wish you and your family good health and prosperity for many years to come 🙏 🇺🇲

The other great thing about the creation of Prairie Fire is you guys bringing these guys together to just sit down and talk. I hd only heard of And seen interviews with Tilt before this game came out. His stories are great, and he is a bad ass, but there’s plenty of others with great stories to tell that most of us wouldnt get a chance to hear about otherwise. Thanks

HELP ME UNDERSTAND. I'm Markus a gulf war vet. My Father is Sylvester Bracey Sr Marine Recon Vietnam 67-68 68-69. Timeline Pops was in danang Marine attack. Pops was at con thien fall 67. Hell. Dec in the hills guarding khe sanh. Hill 881 861. Pops was on the recon Patrol that made contact to start khe sanh Battle. Jan 19 68. Pops said they were Everywhere half way up the hill and we didn't know it. They attacked the hill full force n khe sanh. Ammo dump blew up 1st 12 days of hill fight until we bombed ourselves. Then 77 days khe sanh. 84 days straight fighting. Then Dong ha Dai do. Apr 29 68 to May 1st. 3 DAYS OF HELL POPS SAID WORST BATTLE OF THE WAR BUNKER TO BUNKER. Goes home sees Racism in chgo streets Says send me back to Nam bfo I kill someone in chgo. Back in Vietnam 2 ND tour Ashau valley walking dead. Pops is in 3rd div 2nd batt 9th Marine Recon. Pops said we went in 1st made contact send the Army airborne in for the fight. Pops said they almost got Wiped out by the enemy. We had to come back throw a flank attack to save they ass. Pops got caught on another recon mission by Laos border. I said WHAT? Yes Pops recon team was caught at gun point. They let Pops go saying Brotherman this isn't your war GO HOME. As Pops walked w no weaponthey killed his Recon team. Pops went R n R for few weeks. After being caught Pops did not want to do recon in S Vietnam any more. Pops told Marines find me something else to do. Higher ups came back and said I have a special operation for you No more recon in South VIETNAM but you can't talk for 20 years about what you see or do in this operation and you have to sign a contract? Pops said What's up?. They said no more recon in S Vietnam JUST TELL US WHAT YOU SEE. Pops signed and joined a secret group he called SPECIAL OBSERVERS. Pops said they tricked me they knew I didn't want to do recon in S Vietnam so now they got me doing recon in Laos w tribal troops. They told us if we ever got caught or totally surrounded just call in airstrikes on OURSELVES. This ain't the Marines. Marines come back even for the bodies. It's too late he signed. Pops said The NVA was coming down the ho chi Minh trail like the Dan Ryan expressway. Troops n mo troops. Artillery pieces. Trucks all flowing down the trail as Pops watched from a distance doing recon in Laos. Pops said they want you to do a prisoner grab or call in airstrikes when you see em. The thing about that is when you call airstrikes they know YOU THERE. Pops said I only looked and told them what we saw. No airstrikes as little contact as possible if u make contact killem quick keep the noise down..Marrrk you got to remember they're is no US bases in Laos maybe Cia but no troops just the recon team and making it back to the landing zone hoping it's not hot. Another mission Pops was right up on the ho chi Minh trail hidden. Pops said Chinese troops came down the trail in Mass. I said what China got to do w this? Pops said I know they was Chinese they were tall like us with brand new uniforms on. I don't know why they were there AINT I WASNT BOUT TO FIND OUT. My Point a Dog Team member told me stop saying my dad was SOG. YOU TELL ME. He went AWOL on this group 6 months in the jungle records got lost gets no LAOS CREDIT ONLY 1ST YEAR MARINE CREDIT Jim Thompson says he remembers Pops fr walking dead 9th recon. Pops was caught again by Enemy while AWOL on the Dmz. Pops did make it back home. Rip Dec ,7. 2019. My profile pic. WAS POPS IN SOG IF NOT WHY SIGN CONTRACT AND DOING RECON ON HO CHI MINGH TRAIL IN LAOS HELP A VET UNDERSTAND?

@@hanyolo382 I just listed a FEW of the GREAT SOG Recon Men...how is that negative? I have always been against the posers and the profilers and those who spread self-aggrandizing make bovine excrement. If you consider speaking up against them makes SOG look bad--then you obviously are one of them. Squatting on a bar room table and taking a shit does NOT make you a legend in my book or bragging about a failed mission and getting your men killed does NOT make you an "operator" in my opinion. A GREAT SOG Recon man infiltrates his recon area, gathers information and exfiltrates WITHOUT BEING DETECTED! When one SUPPORTS a known traitor, liar and coward to protect their own interests--then in my opinion they are no better than the traitor. I am LOYAL to those who deserve loyalty, I respect those who tell the TRUTH and I am a kindred spirit to those who hold HONOR dear and if I have to stand alone--I will.

@@hanyolo382 he served in sog from what I read. Seems like he is a jealous self righteous type. Always commenting and downplaying on podcasts. Google him. His books don't get the ratings like Nick's or Tilts. Fired from every job he had. He does have decorations for Valor. Maybe he thinks he should be chased and begged to be on podcasts. Just seems like an asshole
