The SOG Seal Strike is a knife that comes to us from a long line of SOG knives with a 'SEAL' in the name. This knife stood out to me at Shot Show 2015 because it was light, the sheath has a variety of helpful features, and also because it just looked cool. As the title says, I think it will be a great camping knife, probably a solid tactica l knife, but it probably won't do as well in the bushcraft or wilderness survival world. Check out the video to see why.

Stabbing the roll of paper is actually a brilliant ideea to test penetration and blade geometry. Good job!

You sir have my subscription and thumbs up simply due to using that grip in chopping test. The lose two finger grip. I never seen any other KZfaq knife tester use it. Which would be the best grip for light knives if needed to be used for chopping. Thank you for doing this video! 👍👌👌

I think that if it can handle being used for extremely abuse tasks that a knife is truly not intended to do, then you can call it a survival knife.

The cord cutter seems to be pretty useless. When you actually use your knife, the first area to dull is the area with the belly of the blade (and the area that is exposed with the cord cutter). Just my two cents.

Have you ever tested the SOG Tech Bowie, I own it and I think it would fill the void for "bushcraft" as opposed to this.

I like it, but too bad they don't give you the option for a non serrated blade.

I bought a SOG tech Bowie back in 08 and the sheath was absolute trash 3 weekend camping trips and it fell apart at that price point that should never happened. My dad laughed and pointed at his old Ka-Bar he carried in the service since 1970 through the jungles of Southeast Asia. And countless hunting and camping trips. So I went with what's proven no more gimmicks for me. That sheath is going to snap I'm a 1000% positive I've seen it happen.

Great Vid! Quick question though could the cord cutter be used as a seat belt cutter?

My SOG Trident cuts twine of bales of hay with the seatbelt cutter better when the twine is under tension ! This SOG Seal Strike knife may come in handy when the zombies get to close or a modest survival tool ! The zombies peak in late October so thank you for this timely video ! tjl

+Tim Lipinski My SOG Seal Strike is a great light weight tactical survival knife that is a great mate for the Emberlit Titanium UL stove. The stove can use small branches and use one half of the fuel of an open campfire and not attract the attention of the zombies. The up-graded sheath can be the back-up for the back-up survival kit ! Thank you for a great video ! tjl

Hmmm seems pricey, but I attribute this to the sheath with it's built in features. Be nice if they made replacement sheaths like this for some of the other models. I have the budget priced M37-CP with the nylon sheath and Lee Ermey's face on the package. They are amazingly light for their size and although I always found the blade shape unusual, they're nice knives to grab and go. I bet this one feels just as light and handy. One day I'd like to buy an SOG Force and maybe one of the Bowies that hark back to the Vietnam era.

I like the knife but it dosen't look like it would be good to pry say a car door or something thick, the handle is better then gerber lmf2 ,lmf2 inside breaks apart because it's two pieces inside and our, it's made like that to cut live wires, my thing about the sog ,it's not as thick ,both have great sheaths, I do like the handle on this alot ,I still wonder about prying ability because I use my knife alot like that .

So right, sog just wants to be to tactical, if you want tactical knives that are way better just go get a cold steel knife

I'm not impressed with this knife at all.As for a fighting tactical knife I think you would be better off with a 7 inch blade. IMHO this blade fails on all fronts. Not really a SOG fan TBH. Save your money and get something better.
