This knife didn't win the SEAL competition, the SOG SEAL 2000 knife did. The "Elite" is just the newer version of the SEAL 2000, but to my knowledge hasn't been tested as hard. I bought the SEAL 2000 when it came out and I still have it. It hasn't let me down yet.

Why do so many people hate the serrated blade so much? In my experience as a climber, it's really essential for cutting rope and webbing materials quickly and efficiently. It seems like having part of the blade serrated tremendously enhances the diversity of utility of most knives. I'm just wondering why so many people seem to dislike bit so much?

Me too. For my use it's a must-have feature. And in reality, how much of a blade's slicing potential is actually compromised?

When you baton the top of the knife to split wood, the notches on the spine of the knife keep your baton from slipping off the tip of the knife

Excellent review and I agree with virtually every word. I got the plain Seal Team to skip the "rasp." Superb knife.

Is the back of the new knife not used to grind wood, not to make a gap in the wood. But this wood you grind off is great for starting a fire

Great Video. Not a fan of the spine rasp. Would be great if SOG offered the Seal Team with the black TiNi coating. I went with the Seal Team over the Elite. Really don't have any use for the spine rasp and have other tools available i.e.: multi-tool, etc.

Great for butchering chickens 🐓 I’ve got the “2000 Seki” used it to butterfly a salmon head the other night. Good all around knife. So solid. Serrations aren’t ideal for “bushcraft” but it comes in handy for rope or “sinew” .

I'd like to know just how much that rasping handicaps the blades piercing ability. Perhaps a demo on some meat or animal carcass would be enlightening. The rasping looks rather shallow. It may take a little more force to penetrate and extract, but I bet it's negligible, on this particular knife.

Great review. I own a seal 2000, and that for me is the nearly perfect 7-inch all-arounder. Elite series all have that strange "sawback" design and I don't like it either. I don't really worry that may cause stuck between ribs with that gradual teeth compare to a Rambo style. It just comes down to ruin the simple, effective design. Also, I personally really hate SOG puts so many trademarks around the knife. Way too many that it also makes the knife looks cheesy.

How does this knife do in terms of rust? I mean it's a "SEAL" knife. So that means it can go in the ocean? Will it rust?
@jonathanchark52913 жыл бұрын
It's made of AUS-8 stainless steel, so the rust resistant is pretty good. Like anything else, just clean it and lightly oil it and you'll be fine.

This was a great, well thought, review, up until the 10-15 minute rant. I get not liking a feature, and some good points are made but I'd suggest moving on after taking the stand. Makes your video shorter and more people will watch shorter reviews. Just my opinion. Mine arrives Wednesday, can't wait.

Still working on your math skills - a quarter of an inch is point 25 (.25) not zero 24 (.024). Navy Seals do not use a SOG knife. If you can't get your information correct then pick another topic.
