Efficient and time consuming shouldn’t be used together in the same sentence 😂. But I am kind of at a loss on how to study vocabulary at the moment so I thought why not order some paper flash cards off Amazon and copy Kimi. I basically get bored easily and need to mix it up. I don’t think any one method will ever my one method. I’m preparing for my two week trip to Seoul next month and wondering how to improve before I go. I think the best thing would be to talk to italki tutors but that gets expensive. I haven’t don’t shadowing in a while. I only did it for a little while with Korean anyway. I did it a lot more with Japanese when I was in Japan and desperate to improve my Japanese. Actually at that time I think I was mostly worried about pronunciation because it seemed like people wouldn’t speak Japanese to me because of my western face. I later decided that pronunciation is good but what’s much more effective is just confidence and then continuing to speak Japanese even if they speak English. But all the shadowing might have helped too and it’s something I haven’t tried much with Korean. I shadowed everything I could in Japanese which means anime mostly. I just mumbled the parts I couldn’t understand or keep up with but I got pretty good. The flash cards arrive tomorrow so I’ll try making some old school paper cards then.

😅😅😅 You're right haha! By efficient I meant that if I do it with paper flashcards I do remember it well on the long run, and not just the meaning, but also the way it's written and used. But yeah Paper Flashcards also take FOREVER to go through once they stack up 😔 Let me know how it's going for you with those~ I also feel that flashcard is good for studying for exams because one must learn a long list within a short time frame but otherwise vocabulary study should come from natural repeted exposition rather than boring flashcards. Yeah I kept wanting to try Shadowing and not doing it haha. I don't think that my prononciation is bad (although can always do with improving!) but my reading in general and my reading out loud could both really use the practice... yet I don't do it 😅 But I will!! well, maybe, someday... 😆

@@kimincoree I don’t know all the words but if spoke Korean we well as I speak German that would be awesome 😎. The bar is lower for Korean at least for westerners. If I speak German they expect me to speak it at a high level or they won’t talk to me (at least in German).

@@paulwalther5237 German is also easier to learn (at least in theory) than Korean for an English native speaker and more people learn German than Korean so they are more used to it. Whereas the Koreans are so surprised and happy when someone’s says 안녕하세요~ to them especially the older folks ☺️

Do you recommend Sogang for someone who is more of an introvert? I can't decide between Ewha or Sogang. I like Sogang because it sounds like it's a lot easier to make friends (maybe) due to how much you have to speak. But I have heard there are a lot of games you play in the classes, which kinda stresses me out haha so I was wondering if you had an opinion on that? I would be starting at level one and I plan on going to level 4, by the way, if that influences your advice! Thank you so much for your videos so far by the way, they've been super helpful!

Hi! I am glad that you found my videos useful ^^ I haven't been to Ewha so my opinion is biased but in any course that you do, you will have to speak and interract with your classmates anyway. And to learn a language you have to engage with it. I think that being "forced" to speak so much at Sogang is actually a good thing. I am not so introverted in English but I felt very shy to speak in Korean even though I was already an intermediate and Sogang helped with that. And the classroom is a safe space so it feels a little easier. As you are starting from level 1, it will also be easier to make friends. So I would recommand Sogang, but that is not to say that Ewha isn't good - just that I don't know enough about it to recommand it. Now something that could influence your decision is their books. Have you tried having a look at the textbooks at Ewha and the Sogangs one and see which one you feel a preference for?

@@kimincoree Thank you so much! And you're right, I'll have to speak either way. I just have a little social anxiety with public speaking so I was pulling towards the programs that don't focus on speaking as much as Sogang, but it's definitely something I should get over because like you said, the best way to learn a language is to engage with it! I've only used the first Ewha book for self study, but I hear the Sogang books are pretty decent, so it should be fine. Thanks again for helping! I think I'll go with Sogang 🙂
