Күн бұрынsogood.tv Heather Johnston returned from the North Fork of Long Island with a great discovery: how fantastically delicious fried Porgies are in season, and also, super cheap at $2.50 a pound. She shows how to fillet these simple little fish, quickly dust them in flour, corn meal, and spices, and serve them sizzling hot from the fryer with a great Sauvignon Blanc.
BTW: Sorry for the long absence - she has three more videos completed and coming up before the holidays!

Grew up eating fried porgies with grits on Sunday mornings, or mac and cheese and greens for dinner. YUM! That's some good eating.

Thanks for the kind words. I do hope to post more. @redman265 and @fromfattothin, my entire family is from Jamaica, but I love Barbados hot sauce, flying fish, rum, I could go on and on!

Glad to see you're back! Watching this video makes me want fried fish & grits for breakfast. No time to fry fish in the mornings, so I'll have to settle with a bowl of grits. :) Never heard of porgy; I'll seek it out one day to fry. Thanks for sharing.

Dip in scrambled egg mix and toss in McCormick's or Zatarian Fish Fry mix (no need for measuring seasonings). Fry them up crisp - both sides; bone out and bone in.

Porgies are delicious prepared just the way she did! They have a lot of bones and their fins will cut your fingers to ribbons if you aren't used to working with them. She was right-get the fishmonger to clean (and fillet) them for you. Much easier.

I hate it when non fisherman try to teach how to make fish...left a loooot of meat on that first fish, belly is good stuff and the bones can be taken out w.o so much loss...get a lesson in fish

Richard Turner used the wrong kind of knife for fish, thats why she left so much meat on the frame...cutting the spines off instead of using them as a guide to get all the meat off the fish is major rookiedom, and all around just too much talking and not paying attention to what shes doing...limp looking soggy looking fish is what she has took too long to get it from the line to the table
