After 20 years training, performing, and teaching middle eastern dance I can tell you all body types and all sorts of people flourish in these dances. When I started, I weughed 300 pounds and had ended an abusive situation. This dance helped heal me emotionally and physically.

It’s great exercise and it’s fun! About half of the girls in my dance troupe are thick/curvy/chubby girls. We all have fun and we support each other.

Creo que la belleza siempre está ahí, lo interesante aquí es como la filtramos e interpretamos hacía nuestro interior y luego expresamos hacia afuera con palabras y gestos lo que pensamos o nos hace sentir. Eso habla realmente de cómo somos como seres humanos... De cómo conectamos con nosotros y el mundo... bellas mujeres, bellísima danza y música. This is NOT "gypsy" dancing. It is American Belly Dancing, as it has evolved. ZERO connection of any sort to the Romani. (And 'gypsy' is a hugely offensive form. The people are the Rom or the Romani.)

Think all the dances in Europe are originated from India when (Romani) people were forcefully taken away from India some 1000 years back and roamed since last 1000 years as Gypsy. They gave rise to dances like flamingo etc in Spain and other dances in Hungary 🇭🇺

In FCBD-style (former American tribal style) all dancers are the most welcomed! Nobody cares if you are small, or tall, or slim, or curvy, or anything. seriously what is this ???!!!! these women are absolutely weaving magic with their moves. the fabric and some moves are so Indian and some belly dancing and some spicy flamenco moves. the clothing, the makeup, the jewelry, its all very Enchanting Very Mesmerising.... a Crazy mix.
