This was the first Sohyang video that popped up on my feed. I have a musical background, but even I had to watch this 2 or 3 times before I fully understood everything that she did with this arrangement. I didn't find out until later on that she was sick during this performance, which makes what she did here even more amazing.

You know given she was Very sick at the time of this Performance and had been told by Doctors Not to Sing. She came out and does this....I am so Happy that in doing this that night did not end her Singing career. But I think She was well aware of it so held back the just a little bit....and Still Did This.... The EXTRAORDINARY So Hyang performed 'Hug Me', on King Of The Mask Singer, as well at the DMC Festival. Both performances were JAW DROPPING, and mirrored each other. The difference, at the DMC Festival, she looked sick, and she was sitting down. Once again, she had just been released from the hospital after a bout with pneumonia (don't know if it was before or after this performance). Proof that her vocal technique is FLAWLESS and EFFORTLESS, even in sickness.

This master class performance from the extraordinary So Hyang is even more impressive given the fact that she IS NOT well here. Some time prior to this event, So Hyang was released from the hospital, still recovering from her latest bout with severe pneumonia (eight times between 2016 - 2020). Her doctors advised her to cancel, to not talk, and to just rest. At the same time, she was experiencing vocal cord issues. So Hyang did not want to disappoint the audience. Furthermore, she believed her singing career was over and wanted to sing one last time. Afterward, she was readmitted to the hospital. So Hyang disappeared from public singing for nearly two years. She returned in 2020, proving that her vocal technique is rock solid. Fast forward to 2024, her range is still ridiculous, and her breath control remains insane.
