Here's some songs where she belts extremely high notes with crazy resonance Arirang alone - Bb5 (best note imo) Dream - Bb5 (sustained) Everyone - B5 (vocally the toughest) Mona Lisa-Bb5 and B5 (beautifully sustained) Where you are - B5 (crazy octave jump)

Sohyang re-arranges herself the music and vocals in covers to better suit her tessitura. Yes, this was done in a week. She also trains the supporting vocalists in her performances (she is a music teacher in a Korean Arts University). Sohyang has amazing musicality really with a career spanning 20 years, but most of her work is simply in a very niche genre, so people outside of the Korean Christian population don't know much about it. It is rather unfortunate that most of her covers come from singing competitions, where the need to impress judges/crowds combined with her effortlessness in living on the high ends of the fifth octave as a soprano (a place destroyed by contestants in talent shows straining/screaming for publicity) give some people the impression that she simply oversings without emotion or consistency in message delivery. That is a side-effect of her not being interested in a commercial singing career. Almost no-one listens to her music (Korean CCM/Gospel music is a niche of a niche), and she will never become famous or rich or popular in the mainstream music industry. She is fine with that, she sings for her god and I can dig that. Hell, I'm an atheist myself, and her cover of "Everyone" sent ME to church (as well as making me sob like a little bitch when she went down to a whisper in it, while not even knowing what the hell she was saying). Having said that, there are some performances of her (and in different genres) where you can see her doing more than belting the shit out of a song. People that do watch said performances are always surprised both by her musicality and the way she can change her tone to fit the mood. These performances are also the ones people find her "singing with more emotion", which pretty much confirms what I wrote in my above paragraphs about the curse of the singing competition. If you are interested in doing some more reactions for her, I'd suggest some 2017 KoMS performances (Home, Hug Me, Mona Lisa) or a couple of older ones (like "Where are you", "It's my world", "Fate" or "I always miss you"). You will need to go to vimeo and get the video versions without cuts ("Where are you" in particular was butchered at broadcast to the point that the TV station that aired the episode containing the song fired their mixing team after the public backlash lol). You will also find subtitles in many of those vimeo uploaded videos, which might help with the audience watching your reaction. Keep the goodness coming man, cheers..C:

She mostly sings in churches and benefits/fund-raisers (with the odd charity concert thrown in), so yes, it is pretty easy to meet her from what I have read from fans of her. They also say that she is pretty accessible and humble as a personality. I know that most people that listen to her tend to concentrate on her vocal technique and ability, but the most interesting thing about her for me is her own personal story. Sohyang is a cancer survivor (and unable to bear children) since being a 20 year old newlywed - and that is a pretty nasty wedding present. Yet, she is still happily married and lives a pretty busy but humble life, split between writing fantasy stories, singing with her family Christian band (called POS), and teaching music and singing at an Arts University. She is a hard worker too, her voice and technique have evolved tremendously over the span of her twenty year singing career. Watch some of her performances before 2007 and you will understand what I am talking about. Over the years, the biggest entertainment companies both in Korea and in the US have repeatedly tried to sign with her and make her known globally, but she has rejected them every time. I find this incomprehensible (and bordering to insane), but since she is happy with her life I really cannot argue. And that is something I admire in her. ChanelVocals yeah I saw that. I could hear her larynx shoot up and sound kinda unhealthy. Hopefully she is working on it before she sings it again, wouldn't want her to hurt her voice.

Hi!! I love your videos, how you know the notes (you can sing them too!!!!), Etc. You need to react to some of Ariana Grande stuff, she has a veeery wide range too, as SoHyang (some differences). And she is a QUEEN of high notes. Here are some REALLY good performances of her: Focus, live at the AMAs 2015 Bang Bang, live at the Summertime Ball 2016 Be My Baby (Las vegas for example), live at The Honeymoon Tour Break Free live at Brazil, final show of The Honeymoon Tour (This is one of the best of all)

Are you a reactor or analyzer? For me (only me) there is a big difference. I dont like to listen to analysis as it's usually pratter over her performance.. Now if it says "analysis" in the headline that's different. You're a great reactor though I think you should research a bit more.. just me dude..

Moonlight Bitch an opinion is always subjective. I gave her alot of compliments and I think she's the best vocalist behind mariah, but I miss heartfelt delivery from her, she's been through alot like cancer and not being able to have children, so she has alot of potential, but her performances are too perfect for me. ( also subjective )

SHE IS AN UNBELIEVABLE SINGER- HOWEVER. XTINA ... IS CORRECT. THIS BLESSED SINGER LACKS EMOTION. THE YOUNG KAZAKH SINGER, DIMASH, IS ABLE TO CONVEY GREAT DEPTHS OF EMOTION THROUGH HIS SINGING- HE MAY BE SINGING IN A LANGUAGE FOREIGN TO YOU, BUT, YOU FEEEEL THE EMOTIONS OF THE MUSIC. BOTH ARE UNBELIEVABLY TALENTED, BUT, DIMASH HOVERS ALONE IN THE STRATOSPHERE.

Both Dimash and Sohyang really give me extreme emotions in their covers, and I really don't even know what they are saying most of the time. This is pretty much a testament of music being the universal language. After watching this vimeo.com/140289455 or this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hdN0mrugx7yvj2Q.html (from this performance kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bbCYmpp6va-cZac.html) and learning about the lyrics and the original song editions, I'd never, NEVER consider even thinking of Sohyang singing without emotion. Of course, your mileage may vary, this is a pretty subjective thing.

Her voice is great. The only thing is her contorted face every time she sings high notes. It makes me very painful to watch it's like it's painful for her to sing too.
