This performance is from the Korean television program, Begin Again. The title was taken from the 2013 movie by the same name that was really popular in South Korea. The concept of the show is Korean musicians and artists traveling the world "busking" on the street, in town squares, a beach boardwalk, wherever, so in previous seasons they've traveled to Italy, Ireland, Germany, etc. The musicians/artists sing a wide range of songs and it's a joy to hear their reinterpretations, new compositions, collaborations between artists, or how faithful they stay to the original. Due to covid, they couldn't travel, so all the locations in this past season have been in Korea. This location was a very unique place to bring music to people who may not get to see these kinds of performances. The featured artists and musicians who make up the cast may change from season to season, all worth checking out!

This video is from a Korean show called 'Begin Again' where know Korean singers busk throughout the world. Because of COVID-19, for the past season they stayed in Korea and sang in different locations. There are many gems in this show, not just sung by So Hyang but the other singers there such as Lee Hi, Henry, Crush, etc. So Hyang has an extensive library of songs on KZfaq and Vimeo to react to, most are just as good. Great reaction guys to this Korean Angel! Followed her for 8 years now and she still Amazes me! Turned 43 on April 5th. She can sing anything but her roots are as a Gospel singer! She has sung in Churches in over 60 countries!( many times in the USA, mostly in New York and LA areas) She always sings with passion and Soul! She did not sing much before she was 19( a little with her church choir) Her parents separated when she started high school, so her and mom had little money and she was depressed but listening to, Mariah, Whitney and Celine! She said those three, especially Miariah, pulled her through and lifted her up! At 19 she join a band called POS ( a Christian Band) , they had no lead singer so she tried and loved it! Her and the drummer fell in love and Married when she was 20( he was same age) She went for full medical right after marriage! They discovered uterine cancer, she survived but after was unable to have children but her family and especially her husband and his family gave her an enormous amount of support ! She credits Jesus and the marriage for saving her! She Promised to use her voice to praise God and help those who suffer or are depressed, as the 3 Divas had done for her! Since then she has turned down several offers to sign with big record companies! She said God told her she was not ready emotionally and her character was not strong enough in the first 10 years or so! The last 7 or 8 years she has done much more and has been ready for awhile but she still needs to be able to do her Church and Charity work! She is very humble and just someone you want close as a friend! My recommendation would be is another cover of a beautiful song, Love Poem! It is in Korean but has subtitles! One of her own most resent song is Please and is very similar in style and quality to this one but I could not find a video live with English translation! Normally they go to another country but due to Covid they stayed in SK and traveled around to bring comfort to the people. They held lotteries to see who could attend. THE SHOW: This show is called Begin Again which is based on established artists from Korea doing busking. The original show before covid had the artists go to countries like Portugal or Germany to sing on the street and experience what it's like to begin again as an artist and kind of go back to the beginning/roots of being a musician. Because of covid, they did this season in Korea and instead went around to different work places, and areas around Korea to bring some joy and singing to people.

BTW, Whitney's version was a cover. The original is by Dolly Parton, written by her in 1973. Whitney definitely made it her own and Dolly herself said that she didn't know her song could sound that powerful but it is a cover nonetheless. I think it's just one of those songs that's absolutely amazing and when artists take it and pour their souls into it, it has an ability to take on new meanings and emotions. It is art itself.

Sohyang is definitely the biggest superstar you’ve never heard of. A world-class vocalist with the most impeccable techniques. She’s always been a devout Christian which is why she not well known. She had turned down record label deals and have had her farther-in-law manage her career for more than 20 years now. Fun Fact: Sohyang performed with David Foster, who produced this song for Whitney Houston, a couple years ago at one of his anniversary concerts.
