Thank you very much for this detailed review! I was looking at this scope for birds just so I can have more focal length, and your insight about its limitations and the sample images of the woodpecker has made me think twice about getting it, haha. But yeah, I appreciate that you took the time to show that it's possible with this scope. :)

Awesome macro lens !?!?!? Love it. I use my X and the 300 f4, 2x TC, and that glass filter like you have and have been able to see some awesome spots on the sun. Cheers!

Tis rather soft at that close a distance. But it is fun to try it.

Do you know how large the image circle is? Can it cover an APS-C or Full Frame sensor? Would you want to?

APS-C would have some vignetting and 35 mm would definitely be pretty dark around the edges.

Hi. Did you try the mk105 on planets? Do you think it will be sharper than a C8?

Working on some moon stuff right now but will be doing some planet work soon. Venus and Pluto are targets. Pluto will just be a can I detect it test. I'll be putting info about this in my final review.

Hi, after viewing you for the second video on the SVBONY MAK 105, I would like to get the sun filter and the adaptor you made for it. Would contemplate purchasing them from you. I’m in Wyoming and not much for tech stuff that does not apply to oil fields. James

The sun adapter I made you should not need if you just buy the right size sun filter. SVBONY just came out with one too that will fit the MAK with no adapter needed.

Would this be a good scope for the eclipse that is happening in the Midwest this year or would it be too tight to see the corona?

I listened to the mention of the solar filter but i couldn't understand or find an orion 4.58 filter. Can you provide a model and source to order. Great video btw. Getting that scope monday.

Huh. Any chance you have the 2x TC from Olympus? Because that T2-M43 adapter is a dumb one (ie it's just a tube, basically) which means there's space for the front element of the TC. Yes you're looking at a F26? scope with 2700mm FL at this point. But hey, if we're taking photos of Jupiter and Saturn only (ie they're bright enough, not sure about Mars) with the OM-1 and we don't get weird artefacts at that very high f-ratio, that combo might just be a pocket, ultraportable Edge8. Food for thought when you eventually get this Mak for yourself eh?

Video stacking actually gets rid of the artifacts caused by high f ratio scopes. This is why some planetary imagers using scopes with f ratios over 60 can still get good images. I would probably recommend a simple Barlow lens over getting a 2x Old Teleconverter. They are a lot cheaper.
