Solar cooking using induction cookers is the most comfortable way to do solar cooking. For sustainable living, we have to eliminate the need for fossil fuels in our lives. By using a solar panel to generate electricity and using an induction cooker to cook your meals we can get rid of fossil fuels from the kitchen. By using inverters and induction cookers you dont have to wait in the hot sun for your meals to cook. There is no need to wait in the hot sun and no need to worry about clouds. With this system by using solar power stored in batteries, you can do solar cooking even at night. Solar cooking from the comfort of your kitchen using induction cookers is going to be the future of cooking. Solar powered Induction stoves are powerful, efficient and very convenient to use.

Yes.... I realized that later on after using a few different induction cookers!... The one I used in this video aparently was able to work on a 500w continuous power inverter so it should have had a minimum power rating of 600w... I had another one that was 800w minimum. The only way it achieves lower power is by adjusting the time it is on and off... Well the point of this video is to show that it is possible to do solar cooking on an off grid solar system using induction cookers. Make sure to check out part 2 where I cook a small meal.

Induction cookers are highly efficient which is important for off grid applications because we want to conserve as much battery power as possible. They also let you select the power setting in watts which is again good for us to know how to handle the device within the inverters power capacity. Anyway as always..... a big battery and big inverter will always allow for more options.

For this setup I had a 150w 12 v setup with a car battery. Later I upgraded to a 250w 12v setup with a deepcycle battery. If you are planning a serious setup for daily cooking I would recommend you go with a 24v setup as it can provide more power utilising less amps which means less strain on your battery, inverter and wires. And get higher wattage panels such as 800w or above. Also consider LiFePO4 batteries if you plan to cook at night aswell.

@diysustainableliving2774
@diysustainableliving2774 2 жыл бұрын
Please check out part 2 of this video where I demonstrate whats needed to do some decent cooking. I think the electric kettle design is very efficient as the heating plate is inside and all the heat will have to pass through the water to get out. The higher the power rating the more quicker the water will boil. Likewise rice cookers also have a very efficient design as the hot plate is insulated and all the heat will have to pass through the inner pot to escape outside.

I think you mean without any battery ryt?.. well yes it is possible but you will need a very big solar array and you can only cook during noon time. And also on a cloudy day there is no power from the panels. Taking all that into consideration it will be better if you add a good battery for your solar setup. It will eliminate a lot of trouble for you.

@diysustainableliving2774
@diysustainableliving2774 3 ай бұрын
Your panel and battery set up should be more than enough. The problem in with at 3000w squarewane inverter. They usually over estimate the powers on these things and Im not sure whether the square wave will even run the induction cooker. I think it would be a good idea to look for a pure sine wave inverter which has a continuous power rating of more than what your induction cooker requires.

How much cost for that particular solar power set up? incuding solar panel required? Is that a standard to all induction cookers that you can choose the power input level?
@diysustainableliving2774
@diysustainableliving2774 2 жыл бұрын
Yes... in all induction cookers you can adjust the power level. Keep in mind cooking uses a lot of power. So if you are planning to do a lot of cooking. You will need the biggest inverter battery and solar panel setup you can afford. The other cheaper option would be to add a grid tie solar power system to your roof to reduce your electricity bill. Here you dont need batteries or an additional inverter.

HELLO FRIEND, is the supercapacitor permanently connected in parallel with the inverter solar regulator and battery? And nothing happens to the supercapacitor block because it is constantly connected to the 12 volt outlet? or do you disconnect? Regards.
@diysustainableliving2774
@diysustainableliving2774 3 жыл бұрын
It is permanently connected. The main reason Im using it is for my fridge. Supercapacitors dont provide any magical solution for big battery setups. But if your battery is small then only supercapacitors work the best. They only provide the boost power as when the fridge compressor starts. Thats all. If you have a choice in investing in big battries or supercapacitors Ill recommend to spend it is the battery.

It all depends on how much cooking you are going to do with this. If you are going to use it as your main cooker for full family meals then I would like to suggest you go for a grid tie system and a double sided induction cooker. But if you are going to use this for a few meals then its ok to do off grid and with a battery. If possible go for LiFePO4 battery 100ah. If not then a 12v deepcycle lead acid 100+ ah battery with at least 200w of solar panels would be a good start.

Yes... but actually for most meals you only need around 1000w to come to a boil and just 400w is enough to complete the cooking. Thats how Im using my new induction cooker. The old one wasn't as powerful as my new one.... So 1000w means around 90A. That is a lot of power. This is why you need thick wires from the battery to the inverter.

Hi..i am having 200 watt panel and 140 ah battery..can you please let me know can it handle rice cooker or induction cooker?
@diysustainableliving2774
@diysustainableliving2774 Жыл бұрын
If you have 12v 200w of solar panel at best it can produce for you 1.2Kwh a day. Your battery is enough to store that power. But to run a rice cooker or induction cooker you will need a powerful pure sine wave inverter. The continuous power rating should be more than the running power of the induction cooker. So if the induction cooker is rated for 800w you will need a puresinewave inverter that is capable of handling 1000w continuosly. These inverters are frequently advertised as 2000w peak power. As for the rice cooker a modified sine wave one may be enough.

Hello, can you help me ... I want to install solar energy in the kitchen for a similar idea .. I want to buy an electric cooker with a power of 1000 watts, taking into account that the electric cooker may have a higher operating power in the first seconds .. What is the appropriate inverter and the appropriate battery to work without problems .. He can work 5 hours apart during a day at the latest
@diysustainableliving2774
@diysustainableliving2774 3 жыл бұрын
Firstly electric cookers dont consume higher power in the first few seconds like motors. The inverter should be able to handle your max power with ease. So I would like yo go with 1500 to 2000w continuous power rating!.... Now if you plan to use it only during day time you can install a larger solar panel system n a smaller battery. You have to think up secnarios and do calculations for that.

@diysustainableliving2774
@diysustainableliving2774 2 жыл бұрын
First you should calculate how much power you need. For cooking a normal Sri Lankan curry the induction cooker needs around 1000w for at least 3 -5 min at least to bring water to a boil fast. And then depending on the size and number of the dishes you will need at least 1kwh for 2 - 3 curries and rice. So on a bright sunny day you need close to 200w solar panels to produce 1kwh of power. Next you should have a pure sine wave inverter that can have 1000w continuous. These are advertised as 2000w pure sine wave inverters. As for the battery you currently have I think it is a daed battery. You cant charge a 90ah battery with a 10w solar panel. You should charge it up with a good powerful charger and see whether it retains power!

@diysustainableliving2774 2 жыл бұрын
@@digitaldigitalpanthiya9924 Well for all calculations you need to know what your daily requirement in Kwh is. Lets say for example you need 1kwh of stored power. For that you will need 200w × 6hrs since you will get only 6hrs of good power from the sun daily (6hrs around noon). Next is the battery. If you are going with deep cycle lead acid you can discharge to only 50%, so you will need 200ah of battery storage (12v × 100ah = 1200kwh. Take into account the 10% loss at the inverter as well). If liFePO4 you can go to 80% DoD. You can come down on the battery capacity if you will be using that power mostly during the day. It is up to you to calculate how much battery capacity you will need and at what time of the day. As for the inverter it depends on the maximum power of the appliance you plan to run. For the induction cooker you mentioned a 2000w peak 1000w continuous power inverter is enough. Please check part 2 of my video on solar induction cookers! to get an idea.

Your solar panel setup and batteries should be more than enough to run almost any home appliance. But what about the inverter. Is it pure sine wave or modified sine wave? If the inverter output wave form is not a pure sine wave some sensitive electronic devices wont work. Rice cookers and irons will run on any wave form since it is made of a plain heating coil only.
