Took the Jump here and went off grid. Yeah just left the city life behind. In order to do this I watched 5 years of video's like this and learned Ohm's Law. I had to understand how battery chemistry worked. How temperature affects ALL power production and know the differences between real and fake equipment such as cheap high frequency modified sine inverters vs True low frequency Pure sine inverters. I agree there is minor differences in Mono and poly. We opted mostly for poly. I can live in a tent by my wife wants the normal luxury's. Fridge, microwave and coffee maker + the dredded Airfryer. 4,800w PV, 6,000 pure sine low frequency AIMS inverter ( 95 lbs

It is nice to have off grid power! My house has lost grid power over 15 times this year and except for the hvac and hot water I don't notice.

We have the EG4 18K PV like your Lux Power 12K and a DIY 28 kW of EVE 280K cells from Docan power out of Texas and 14kW of SEG bifacial panels. We use the EG4 Chargeverter connected to our 5,000 watt Diesel generator that runs on Veggie-Oil to charge the battery's when it is cloudy. Off-Grid is awesome.

Very helpful....i just had one question....suppose several panels with open circuit voltage of 20 V were connected in parallel, due to shade cast over one of the panel, its open circuit voltage reduces to 15 V, my question is due to this drop in voltage from only one panel, will the voltage of entire system reduce to 15 V or remain 20 V ?

AFAIK this will bring down the system voltage and therefore the efficiency. People typically put north/south/west etc. Facing arrays on different mppt controllers so that the shaded panels don't impact non shaded

Parallel panel set up you will benefit from each panel having its own blocking diode. NICE If you series them and get shade the ENTIRE array is affected! BOO! Hope this helps. Poly do better in shading vs mono.

Good video for a newbie to solar. Do you have any solar mini splits on the property? Smart to be off grid 👍🏻

Thank you. I do hope that the video helps people get into solar. Currently I do not have any solar powered mini splits. I have seen those and they would be nice to work with.

Many, like myself probably see this as daunting with the volts,amps, math etc which is why i paid for mine to be installed but videos like these will help simplify things and also serve as a reference as I look to expand what I have while doing it myself and saving half the cost on paying an installer. 👍🏻@@DIYVolts

Trying to do a Solar DIY. Would like to charge EV. Not worried about home. Is there a way to make solar, store into battery, and go to EV? Trying to bypass DC AC conversion and simplify the build.
@DIYVolts

Yes that is possible. Solar panels produce DC power that can go to a charge controller and then battery. From there you would need to use a charger dedicated to run from battery. Or you could use a large power station such as the Zendure V.

I live in a killing hot area of the US and am very "daunted" by all of this solar/electrical language. I wish I had somebody who could just tell me what product/products to buy for the simplest setup to plug in the smallest a/c window unit available for one 10x12 room if the power goes out this summer. I can't put anything on my roof.

Heating and AC are tough because they need a lot of power. A small window unit will need 500-900w of power. Solar can do that but you would also need a battery for a passing cloud.

@@DIYVolts So what about one of those Bluettis or a Jackery? How do those work?

Thank you for your explanations. I'm kind of a different duck (autistic 😂). Here's my approach: I run my entire house using one 12-volt panel. Not what you think. My panel runs a small 12-volt motor whenever there's enough sunshine. That motor runs an air compressor. I store compressed air in lieu of a battery and when I need electricity, my system runs compressed air through any of 3 air engines I designed and built, each one coupled to a generator. Easy peasy. Caveat: I still use mains power to run 5 freezers, but I'm working on a fix for that. My entire SOLAR cash outlay is $36 per panel. I have a few of them in the wings -- back-ups / extras.

Can anyone please explain why there is such a rush to find alternatives to the subterranean fuels we currently use to escape poverty, socialism and communism?. What do you fear from what we are doing now and in the past because if it is fear of warming the planet you can all relax because there is no melting of the polar regions to the extent most are told by supposed experts who always get things wrong. The December 2023 Arctic sea ice extent has been the highest it has been in over a decade and that happened during the hottest year on record which obviously could not occur if the planet has warmed as claimed by some. I would be very interested in finding answers to my simple questions and I hope the relevant experts will be able to answer them, thank you and Happy New Year to you.
