Feel bad for Petter. He was on pace to take 3rd from Mikko before this happened. Looks like he just went a little fast and wide and went off. You can actually hear in other videos that Solberg is still on the throttle hoping to find his way out and onto a road. He never saw the road he crossed as he was blinded by the grapes on his windscreen. Dramatic and scary the power pole that came down. Lucky that spectators got away unscathed.

lol exactly, I think that they are the best drivers in the world, and Loeb is the best of them, he is simply amazing, maybe his driving isn't spectacular, but at the end of the day he is the fastest in most stages and almost never makes mistakes..

If Solberg really throttled through the wineyards and it hasn't jammed, then that was just downright stupid and dangerous.. I won't say he could have seen the pole and its collapse coming (who would), although this of course was a great danger for the spectators there. But what if he had simly hit a spectator on the way, which he must have known is a possibility? Sorry Petter, but that's trying a little too hard.. You have lost all my respect as a WRC driver here.

Well you will get stuck if you don't throttle in there, that's true. But since he couldn't see anything ahead of him, thats a different situation than just sliding a bit off track in an open area. For the same reason, the spectators wouldn't have been able to jump out of the way, if they had been standing in the wrong place. They wouldn't have seen the car was heading for them, just as Solberg couldn't see the track or the pole. But I do value your opinion. Maybe I am too emotional about it. :)

Think with your head. They are supposed to throttle when you're off the tarmac, or else you get stuck. The spectators have to be cognizant of the cars, not the other way around. It was an accident, shit happens. Don't be so emotional about it. Could've happened to anyone.
