I've gotten hooked on these videos, not only because of the great cars (like this one). But also because Bill is one of the best car presenters I've seen, and I watch ALOT of car videos. With his encyclopedic knowledge of European cars, and great wit (Goddam Birds!, Mosquitos!.......little bastards!, Weedeaters!, Making soup out of ketchup and water!!, Big Canadians!!!).This guy is a rockstar. Gotta meet him someday. My wife and I are watching all of his videos, mainly for the entertainment value. But we're also drooling over the gorgeous vintage cars that are all in showroom condition. The Transmission is a 7 Speed and is not made by ZF... it is a built by Mercedes-Benz.. it's called the 7G Tronic. The 2000-2002 W220 cars have the 5G Tronic 5 speed..

LMAO Bill, you are the best! :D I bought a 2000 model S430 back in 2012 for half the regular asking price as the car had some issues. I have to agree, the seats were supremely comfortable, and the V8 (while only a 4.3L) was very smooth. Unfortunately, it was a highish mileage car with a few problems, so I got rid of it after 1 year. As you mentioned, the sound insulation was AMAZING!

I remember riding in a car like that when it was launched to the market. What a wonderful car. Imperial comfort, exudes quality and had technological aspects such as cylinder deactivation, cruise control with adaptive function, which are still desired today.

Even though the facelift 2003 have better suspension, the pre face-lift had less electrical problems. My 2003 s500 drain batteries and no one knows how to fix it. I know of another person having the same problem. The people I know having the pre face- lift didn't have that problem. Anyone out there experience the same problem?

Love your videos. Although it’d be a death sentence buying a S class this old. Best friend is a director at one of the most successful Mercedes Benz dealerships on the west coast. These models are notorious for having balance shaft issues, among a million other issues. Forget the high price of getting the issues fixed, as a Mercedes owner I spend every other weekend at the dealership with one problem or another. I am in a rental most of the time. I own a 2015 e class as well as a 2014 GLK. You’d be a lunatic for getting a Mercedes.
