The Sole F85 and the Peloton Tread are running treadmills with z-shaped frames and nice touchscreen displays. They both have firm running decks. The onscreen content ranges from trainer-led videos to scenic content to entertainment streaming. Yet, they have key differences that lead us to prefer the Sole F85 to the Peloton Tread.
First, our pick out of this treadmill comparison is the Sole F85. It does not require a subscription to access the onscreen content unless otherwise required by the third-party apps being used. The Sole Plus app integration provide instructor-led workouts. There are also preprogrammed workouts. Sole has the Kinomap app integrated into its touchscreen. You can also screen mirror content from apps like Zwift (which transmits the treadmill speed) and other apps for varying levels of connectivity.
The F85 has Bluetooth speakers, audio, and heart rate monitor connectivity. The console has a wireless charging pad so you don’t have to worry about your phone dying while you are screen mirroring and playing Bluetooth audio.
The F85 has a speed range of 0 to 12 miles per hour and can incline and decline from -5% to 12%. It can support a maximum user weight of 375 lbs.
As for the Peloton Tread, a subscription is required to access all of the onscreen content. You get excellent training classes from top-notch instructors. There are entertainment streaming apps and the Lane Break game.
The Tread has an amazing touchscreen display and fantastic audio quality.
The Peloton Tread is a little lacking when it comes to performance. It has a considerably weaker motor (3 HP compared to 4 HP on the F85). It does not decline. It only supports a maximum user weight of 300 lbs.
Due to the Peloton Tread’s higher initial cost and ongoing cost of subscribing, the Sole F85 is our choice of the two treadmills.

Great content! I ordered the F85. A friend of mine has the Peloton and it definitely is a really nice treadmill. The screen and content is pretty awesome. Looking forward to using my F85 when it arrives

@@BestTreadmillReviews hi! F85 just came in and I love it! Took it for a test spin with Kino and was awesome. As with the F85 review it does take time for the incline adjustments. But it’s super smooth. The screen is plenty big, crisp, and plenty of apps. Put together was really easy. I personally like the firm feel of running on it vs cushion. Feels like it translates to street running well if that’s what you’re into. Only downside to me is the incline speed but it’s not a dealbreaker. Very solid and I’m 220 lbs.

@@dinesh23orangeI have not tested all the apps yet. I did have a delay when using one of the kino outdoors maps but only when I was selecting the map. It did not affect when I was actually running. So it did not pause or anything like that. I’m not aware of all the app issues you’ve mentioned. I’ll have to look it up. I’ll try the other apps and let you know

Can def. see the Peleton screen shake that I keep reading about. The beginning of the video it is shaking like crazy. I don't know how they can miss that in design QA.

In my experience, Sole has been great with equipment that has lasted 10+ years, but of course, your experience may vary. I like their lifetime warranties on the frame and motor.

I already have a peloton Bike+ and peloton subscription, with that factored in would you still choose the F85? I'm in my mid 40s and not a good runner but I'm Military and HAVE to run as a requirement. I stop and walk a LOT during my required 1.5 mile runs. Are the Peloton running classes good for poor runners that historically hate running? I didn't think trainer led classes would be good when I bought my Bike but they REALLY help me to actually get on it do to the exercises. my wife wants a tread for incline walking. I'm leaning toward the Peloton because of these factors.

Since you already subscribe and have the bike, the Tread probably makes more sense. However, you can screen mirror the Peloton training content to the F85, but it's not as smooth. I really like the Peloton training content for the treadmill even when I'm training on a non-Peloton treadmill. I'll just put it on my phone or tablet. It still works very well.

Are you happy with the tread? I am in the exact same boat... and leaming to peloton simply bc I really like the programming.. and I like being able to see my stats.
