Solent Flyer at Southsea

Solent Flyer arriving and departing Southsea seafront. Possibly had new engine fitted as well as new skirt. Sounds different to previous.

We had a trip on one of these earlier in the year. Obviously more lightly built than the old design, and having only two diesel engines and not four, these new hovercraft should be much more fuel efficient than the old design, and quieter too. The stormy weather didn't seem to bother it too much and the ride on the choppy water was no worse than driving a car down an average British road. I do think that it's a shame to loose the forward cabin windows though. Would we travel on one again - You bet we would! :-)

These new craft got the build quality design quality & as reliable as a Austin Allegro Underpowered Slow in moderate winds & weather to small. Should be scrapped already Hovertravel cant get it right just like with the Solent Express although that craft seems more fit for purpose & seaworthy
