Product info from Ortur:
✅ This enclosure is a protective shell for the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro laser engraver, which is isolates and gives protection from the level 4 laser beam generated by the laser module.
✅ This Enclosure can’t be used along, it needs to be used with our Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro Laser engraver.
✅ Ortur enclosure is equipped with a ventilation fan, which requires an external ventilation pipe. The other end of the ventilation pipe should lead outside or into a filtration system so that the smoke generated during engraving can be exhausted.
✅The upper cover uses double pneumatic struts, which automatically lift when the top is opened. All metal structure, sturdy and durable.

Thanks for the build help in this video! I purchased one of these and was stuck a little on the assembly process. I am going to use mine for the Ortur Aufero Portable Laser Engraver, which is much smaller than the enclosure was intended for. I skipped the steps where I attached my laser to the enclosure and started by assembling the bottom with the sides. Anyway, thanks again for the help!!

Sam great job on the enclosure. You are the reason why I purchase the Ortur Master pro. Just a add on that you might be interested in doing that is very simple on wire management to the laser is I took a mild light gauge wire and wrapped the laser wire like a spring all the way to the plug-in and stiffen it up as the wire is not dragging behind and or touching the bed. Well again awesome job on the enclosure and grats on the new property. God bless

I have this one Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro but on the way I have arriving soon Ortur Laser Master 3 Pro I also have XTOOL D1 can I use the cup roller from the D1 with my other Ortur ? 2 & 3 you do a good job explaining and you get right to the point without a lot of bull crap.

Great video Sam, but I think the price is to high for the restrictions. You can’t use the Rotary, you can’t engrave longer material, but dang it looks great. I built my own enclosure with a Hidden bottom for the rotary and a opening in front and back for longer items, probably will never engrave longer items but you never know. But dang that ORTUR enclosure looks cool.

Just put one of these together myself. Two things first I used some double sided tape to mount the laser gauge to the left inside of the case. Second, they need to add a fan guard, when the laser travels to the rear of the cabinet the laser cable may have a tendency to contact the fan blades. I added a piece of mesh screen over the fan for added safety.

23:15 I would assume that you could hook the fan to the controller via control pins, you could possibly configure the software to turn the fan on and off. You could then program delays via pre and post job. As a computer nerd, there has to be a way to do it... fairly easily!

Lol I’ve not used it yet as I’m in two minds if I should use it or just get rid, mainly because I can’t find any trusted people in the UK to buy good laser safety glasses from, the ones on Amazon have got a wide range of mixed reviews, and I don’t want to gamble with my eyes, so I really unsure on what to do.. A smaller enclosure like this would be amazing I’m wondering if there are smaller versions on these..

My problem with the Ortur enclosure is that is cost almost as much as the Laser Master 2 Pro... Like $360 on amazon... I make my own enclosure out of scraps from around my show and a piece of that orange laser-blocking plexiglass and added my own fan... I probably spent about $60 on materials. But that include a louvered soffit vent so I don't get rain it. The nice thing about mine... if I have an over sized piece, I can always take my laser out and place it on top of it... The disadvantage of mine? The bottom is made of 3/4": MDF (NICE, FLAT, LEVEL) and the rest is particle board and pine... so.. it's heavy! Mine works fairly well... I get a faint oder of smoke inside my room, but it's very faint.

If you leave off the bottom panels of this enclosure, then you can raise/lower the whole unit as needed for the rotary attachment. In one of my recent videos I show where I remove the metal bottom and put the whole unit on plywood to use my custom grid board for projects. It's still plenty sturdy without the bottom. Here's that video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/atumoseKvrDJaI0.html

Hey Sam, thanks for the great videos. New to the Ortur laser and really enjoying the content and how you deliver it! Question on the enclosure, I just purchased one. Regarding the limitations with the metal floor (inability to use rotary accessory), do you think you could just leave the floor off and raise the entire unit up on blocks? Realize this would create a gap for fumes to escape but perhaps you could fashion a skirt or something to minimize? Just curious if you've solved this problem yet. Thanks again! - Dave

So still liking the Ortur? I haven't decided yet but learning towards the Fox Alien. Also do you recommend putting your waste board inside under the laser before fully assembling it. Looks like it would be difficult to get it inside after you get it together.
@Samcraftcom
@Samcraftcom 2 жыл бұрын
Just peeking at the FoxAlien, it appears to be a good looking laser. I like the cable management with drag link chains, easy-adjustment for focusing, and advertised max engraving speed of 20,000 mm/min. I haven't yet tried to fit the waste board inside, but do imagine it will be a tight fit. 99% of my uses are for engraving so the templates I use are just outlines for setting items on top, but placement is key. I may just put down layers of masking tape and etch that as my template.

I guess this is V 2 Sam. The first version has metal like a soda can. But it's still a major fail. 1) You can't use a rotary unless you leave the bottom off. 2) No pass-through doors, so you can't use print and cut for longer pieces. 3) When you use a honeycomb bed, usually an inch thick, you won't be able to engrave any thick material. *4) You can't hang it on the wall* 😎 That said, I really like Ortur, but I wish they would send new products in the beta phase to people like you and me for testing & feedback before they launch them. Look at the Pro for example. Three versions before it actually worked properly. They need to do more R&D before they launch new products. Great video though Brother!

It does not look like there is any space for an air assist pump so if I want to use one, I would have to drill a hole for the air tube. Is this correct? Also, is there provision for lifting the laser up for engraving thicker materials or for using the roller accessory that they sell for this as well?
@Samcraftcom
@Samcraftcom 2 жыл бұрын
There's enough room where the wires come out at the front left for the air line to pass through. As for thicker materials, the only thing to do is remove the bottom metal plates (or leave them off) and raise up the machine... not a great solution, but understandable since not everyone is doing rotary or very thick materials.

@SarbarMultimedia

Its a very nice vacuum chamber. You cannot extract fumes unless there is a FLOW of air through your machine. You need an inlet area at least equal to the area of the extract duct. Put your lips around the opening in a Coke bottle to find out many swallows can you get before allowing air in? As someone else commented , more R&D required.

All I know about this enclosure is what I have seen here and I agree with what you said but the enclosure does not look like it is sealed and airtight. There is no weather stripping around the door or the joints where the corners meet. Granted the fan may pull a slight vacuum inside of the enclosure but there is still plenty of air movement through to get the smoke out the back.

The enclosure is far from air tight, so there is still a good amount of air flowing into the enclosure. Whether or not it equals the amount the fan wants to expel, I do not know.

@@Samcraftcom I've ordered a router and table so I can build his cool enclosure. I'm a machinist and can do anything with metal, but I'm not much of a woodworker, so I hope my skills are good enough to make that enclosure. I already have a small table saw and I own skill saws and jig saws and other tools, but never had a router. I'm really enjoying my new hobby with the laser engraver/cutter. The only problem is, mine is taking 6 passes at 100 speed and 100% power to cut through 1/8 (3mm) basswood plywood and it should be able to do it in 1 pass. So Ortur is sending me a new laser head, but it's Chinese new years for a month so it will be awhile before I get it. This is the first comment you have ever left on this channel, so this reply is for other viewers who genuinely watch and participate in my channel vs. someone who may use an alternate account or only show up to whine and complain... I understand what you're asking. However try to view things from my perspective as well. A shop project that takes a lot of time to develop, build, and showcase is a gamble whether anything comes of that content and work (AKA paying the bills). On the other hand choosing to do sponsorships, I say choose because only 1 out of every 20 request is worthwhile for this channel and viewers. Those videos do pay some bills right out of the gate. In the long run it's about sustainability on my part. This channel is not the primary focus of my life right now. As such, the content will wax and wane as my time and life allows. Being able to bring some content to this channel in the form of the sponsored videos of late has been what I can do on my end. Otherwise there would not have been any content to view.

Open-air diode lasers are not safe to use as shipped and it's really helpful to see what the OEM enclosure option & design rationale is for Ortur, which is the only company I know of in the sub-$500 engraver market that actually offers support & failure replacements.
