Thanks! The third method is really interesting. Quite usual that I need to perform reverse engineering of routing. So, I have a 2D drawing of a cable and need to issue assembly documentation with visualisation how the cable is placed. I can make a 3D model of cable. Place it later on the assembly with fixed length. And finally make routing that it will look good.

really helpful, how would I create a wire or flexible hose between two parts I created, let's say custom fittings...or maybe between fittings I've downloaded. I usually just model the wires in manually but this seems like it could save alot of time..
