This is an example of how you can simulate the stress on a 0.5" hex shaft supported on the ends by ball bearings using a SolidWorks FEA simulation.

Thank you for the video. If you want to add tolerance for the cutter, between the cutter and the shaft, how much would that be?

Hello my teacher Your tutorial video is very useful. Could you do any other analysis on shredder? for example about the forces applied to the support walls. No analysis has been made for the shear force of the plastic material. How did you determine the 440N force? thanks professor.

Great points on here. This shaft analysis for a shredder is intended to be a rough starting point for analysis. I assumed 100 lbf (440 N) as a rough estimate to shear plastic, but more analysis is needed to determine the actual shear force based on the thickness of the plastic, material properties, and the total shear area. The housing is definitely an important consideration, especially when you add in the motor and transmission, but that's outside the scope of this particular video (just to keep things simple for an initial calculation). I may do a follow on video to extend this analysis.

I'm getting the error as "No loads or prescribed displacements are defined (for problems, with special loads such as Thermal, Gravity or Centrifugal, activate the proper flag) Loads on Fixed-Rigid parts would not be active.
