As a maintenance electrician Force I/O is a must have " tool ". Often after machine shutdown lubrication/coolants etc aren't in the right viscosity therefore your pressure sensor will fault out on high/low pressure. To be able to get this going the O of PS can be forced and that will allow the recirculation than eventually you achieve the right temperature. That can be applied to any value or application. Makes life easy :)

I'm new to forcing so overall this was helpful, but contrary to what you say @1:30, forces can be applied to both inputs and outputs. When forcing inputs, the input light remained off on my L23E, but the bit was forced and subsequent logic enabled and outputs energized.

You can. I force inputs to prevent logic halting when I need to replace a piece of instrumentation.

Does anyone know if you can force remote IO that is on a profibus network on rslogix? It appears that it is not possible. Several of our plant engineers have been trying since this could be a game changer for us. Our processes are mostly controlled by Siemens /CTI w ET200S remote IO. We want to switch to Allen Bradley Rslogix but if we can’t force, it would severely hinder how we do troubleshooting now. On CTI we can force any profibus IO. Thanks for ANY commentary…

Interesting... I've never tested this. I'd be curious to see if we get an answer. Have you tried to reach a Rockwell expert on this?

@@SolisPLC yes we have a support contract for our software, and waiting for their answer to this issue. We think we can build a work-around but it would be messy. If this can’t be done I’m guessing we may change our path forward and keep our CTI processors. I prefer them anyway over Allen Bradley as they really are direct replacements for the older Siemens 505 series. Very robust and with Fastrak profibus configuring is a breeze.

Hi Steven, if you force an output or input, it will be HIGH throughout the program.
