We've been experiencing a bit of a heat wave in Seattle for the past week, so I decided to head up for a quick solo overnight hike in the Central Cascade mountains near home. Turns out it was still pretty hot there and the mosquitoes were considerably worse than I'd hoped. In any case, I decided to play around with only bringing one camera and one lens for both photo and video, so everything you see in this video was shot on the Sony a7R IV camera and Sony 24-105 f/4 G lens. This is my absolute favorite setup for travel photography, but I'd never used it for both photo and video. Pleasantly surprised with how it all turned out, considering a lot of the clips were shot at ISO 10,000. If the colors look less than perfect, that's mostly because I still suck at color grading scenes shot in forests. Green is tough to begin with, plus the light filtered through the green leaves does weird things to the color that I don't really know how to correct yet. The 8-bit color didn't help either. Nonetheless, happy enough with the results and will definitely consider a one-camera setup for backpacking trips in the future where weight is more important.
