I head out into the woods on a rainy day to spend the night on a bed that I craft and cook some delicious food over a fire.
I get dirty and wet but still have lots of fun.

I found Matthew & Monty’s channel because of JR so I’m appreciative of it but I find myself watching a lot more of Matthew. Can’t beat his laid back optimism. I think he deserves as many subscribers as JR has quite frankly. He certainly earns it. I think JR has benefitted a lot from being a recognizable reality tv personality. If Matthew had the same opportunity his channel would probably explode as well. And he’s the type of guy who most folks would enjoy seeing do well which is always nice too.

The Montreal steak seasoning is awesome. I use it on everything, so very good. Your Dad was right on about that lol I been using it as my secret weapon when I cook bahahaha every one would tell me how awesome my food was and ask me what i would use bahahaha I would say it's top secret hehehe. Matthew, what a great initiation into bushcraft camping! Superb job with the raised bed, tarp set up, fire reflector and the meals looked awesome! I agree that the Montreal steak seasoning is a must have in your cook kit. I have to have some salt, too. Hey, do yourself a favor and pick up one of those inexpensive air bellows from Amazon or ?, either Epiphany or Jonhen. Blowing into the fire that closely can be detrimental to your face. Man, I love your sense of attitude, sense of adventure and mostly your wonderful sense of humor. Love your videos!

Thank you! Montreal really is the best. I would but I don't want to bring out a piece of gear just for blowing into the fire. I have been doing that my entire life and don't think I will be able to stop! Glad you like them!

Nice job on your first bushcraft camp site! As usual, the food you made all looked so delicious. If you ever get an eggshell in your eggs, use one of the half shells from your egg, and scoop the broken shell out. It works great. The weather was excellent, except for a little bit of rain. Waking up to snow is always awesome. I loved that you "washed" your hands with leaves and dirt! My family and I have been doing that for years while we're camping. As always, I enjoyed the video, and thanks for sharing.

NIce video Matthew. By the way, keeping a sheath on your axe while pounding stakes is not good. The blade of your axe will cut into the welt of the sheath and the blade will hit the rivets. Well done on lighting your fire in those nasty conditions, if you make a raft of split wood to build your fire on you will find you have less chance of steam and moisture extinguishing it in the early stages and you will build a bed of coals a lot faster. Keep the videos coming bud you have a great presence in front of the camera and I am enjoying your adventures very much.

The next thing you need to learn is "leave no trace" unless that was your private property. Scatter those logs and cover the fire area. Other than that, you did a good job getting set up and a fire started in the rain!! I didn't think you'd get the fire going, but you did good!!! A warm drink might have helped you get warm faster, though.

Hello Matthew, Enjoyed your video very much and well done. I was recently out in the forest for one night. I was going to try lighting my first Siberian log fire. The conditions were very simialr to yours. Everything was sodden (even the birch bark) and my fire was a TOTAL failure, resulting in no food. Should've had a back up. Anyway, it gets dark at 4 pm here in Sweden and the sun doesn't come up until 8, so it was a really long night without a fire. Well done you.
@MatthewPosa
