I've enjoyed your videos and you have inspired me to do more cooking when I camp next year rather than just relying on the local pubs and takeaways. Christmas approaches for another year: time to revisit this video...and my favorite shelter style, based on security from wind and weather.

You have made a beautiful shelter, a lovely place to build your shelter, plenty of firewood and a nice secluded location and you are very talented at building shelters, it looks strong and sturdy and great location, we built something similar but we have it in bear country so in summer we have our truck right next door in the event a bear comes into camp we can go to the truck and get protection but in winter there is no bears they are in hibernation. But we have not had any that gave us trouble. We are going to have a Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve, then we are going Christmas day campout and stay for three days, merry Christmas to you and yours, and a great and safe new year.

Those oil lamps are really oldschool-cool now when world is full of LED-gadgets. Finland greets you :)

THANK YOU for another fine Holiday video. I have commented before that I LOVE an Adirondak-style shelter: it is fine to see how one adapts to changing seasons and weather! In colder weather, it might be better to have the firepit closer to the shelter. I would also add a decent set of back screening to drive more heat into the shelter. (And I wouldn't get up so early!)

Merry Christmas, Andy! Anytime you want to do an overnight in that little cabin, consider heating up a bunch of rocks in the fire, and then placing them around the bottom edge where your feet would be pointing, and that would probably heat up the word and help you to stay warmer through the night. You could also tack one of those mylar blankets to the ceiling above where you sleep, and that would also help to reflect the heat back down onto you overnight.
