I bought a solo stove bonfire and in this video, I give my honest solo fire pit review after using it for a year. We have primarily used it as a fire pit in the backyard when we had guests over. Do smokeless fire pits actually work? Are they expensive? I'll share my personal experience with the solo smokeless stove.

Hi, We have had our solo fire pit for a few years. I think you're piling the wood too high. We only fill ours about 1/2 full and there is no smoke at all except when first starting the fire. I absolutely hate smoke and I can sit next to this for hours! We don't have any rust but we don't leave it out either. I wish I could send you a video. The pit is only half full but the fire is twice as high with no smoke.

I forgot to mention this but it does seem like after it's been burning about 1/2 hour or so it's a lot less smoke. In the video the wood was at least 4 inches below the holes.

Thanks for the video! We have one and i love it. The smoke from a normal campfire leaves me congested and with a headache the next day, but with the Bonfire, not only do I not experience that, my clothes don't smell like smoke at all. I've only had mine a short while but a friend has had one for over 3 years now (that's what convinced me to buy) with no rusting here in Iowa. Not all fire pits fit everyone's needs but these (and the Breeos, which another friend has) are great for what i am looking for.

Tawra, I am a fire pit girl as well, but I have to say we bought one of these in December and I really do like not having the smoke. I have seen people who own smokers (grills for meat) and they are made of steal and they do some treatment (like spraying oil) and lighting the unit to prevent rust. IDK if something like that can be done on this to keep it going longer. Also your extreme winters may be harder on the pit than ours here in Georgia. Yes, would recommend this unit to someone who had the change to spare, as it is a luxury. If they did not have them means, dig a hole in the yard and Bobs your uncle.😀

I didn't leave it out in the winter and covered in the summer except for 1 or two times it was just too late.

Thank you for this video. While we have an in the ground fire pit, it no longer meets code nor the newer regulations. We are satisfied with it except for the part of the fire season during which only the free standing, metal type fire pits are allowed. We would not be satisfied putting one of those pits on the back deck at any time of the year, definitely not in the middle of the lawn during a drought, but have talked about using one in the middle of our in ground fire pit. Can't say we been interested enough to actually buy one ....😊

ALWAYS EMPTY ASHES FROM A FIREPLACE (OR PIT) INTO A METAL BUCKET! Even if the fire has been out for a few days there could still be "hot" coals in there that could catch a plastic bag or paper bag on fire. Trust me it happened to us several years ago.

I set my compost pile on fire once! LOL (ok it wasn't funny at the time! :-) but yes you are right mine out been out for a VERY long time so I KNEW it was cool.

Wow I was hopeful till I saw the smoke. Because I have a bad sensitivity to smoke on anything and it suffocates Me. When my neighbor has his on or barbecuesi can't even go.outside. It's awful. I'd love to not be allergic to smoke. I muss our fireplace we used to have. Ty for the review Honey. Much Love and Gratitude and Appreciation ❤❤❤

You didn't waste your money. You will use it and get $250 worth put of it. We have a firepit that's just a hole it the ground that we sit around. Love it.

You might consider a gas firepit for a cleaner fire.

Rust is just one form of metal corrosion and requires the metal to have iron in it.

Guess I'll stick with my 4 ft fire rings for about 70 dollars. Lasted me 8 years before replacing. I just toss weeds, twigs, branches, woody growth, whatever in there.
