I put about a 3ft section of pool noodle on the rope… I can the wind the rope onto the pool noodle and it acts as a “reel” to let rope out, and to wind it back up and store it. it also puts a float on the rope in case it breaks or comes untied (happened to me once when the tie down in a track in my truck bed popped out). another boat was able to run out and easily grab the rope since the noodle was floating it.
